Hey guys,

So I know it's early yet seeing as this years NFR isn't even over yet, but I am looking to travel to the NFR next year. I want to go for around a week, beginning at Round 1. Just curious where everyone stays, what things to do/see, and how much I should budget (just as a general idea), so I can start saving/planning.

Thanks y'all!

We've stayed at the Hard Rock and Tropicana. Both were nice but I much preferred Tropicana. Just an older hotel with a more laid back atmosphere, 2 areas for viewing the rodeo, small band each night after (again, laid back small crowd, FUN!). Bull fights right there in the parking lot which are well worth the $40 tickets. Free shuttle to and from the rodeo.

We bought plaza tix for one round from a season ticket holder. And the other round we went to we got from the ticket exchange at Cowboy Christmas, the cash booth only charges $10 over face value.
But even if you don't get tix, the viewing parties don't show commercials like TV, it's actually live and you listen to the rodeo announcers, not TV commentators, so it's kinda similar to being there. People usually cheer and root on their favs too!

Tons of free concerts each night. We saw Ned Ledoux, Corb Lund, Casey Donahew, and Aaron Watson for free, and there were MANY others we didn't get to.
We bought tix to the Hooey Party at the Brooklyn Bowl for Corb Lund and Turnpike Troubadours...I wouldn't go back to that venue. It's in an alley between casinos, we almost didn't find it (NO directions ANYWHERE online), missed Corb Lund open, you have to park in a random parking garage and walk through casinos and down the strip to get to it...and it was too small for the crowd-sold out show with 3 bartenders, and only 1 serving mixed drinks. Too many great free spots to pay for those tix again.

Flint's show is great to catch live, he's in Cowboy Christmas at 12pm each day and there are always seats open.

We spent the most on food, it's ridiculous. And you will spend a fortune chasing a buzz LOL...next year I will take a hint from others and purchase the plastic baggy type flasks.

Bring comfy shoes for during the day, you'll do a lot of walking. I went for comfort up until rodeo time, then I opted for fashion LOL.

Right now if you use ebates you get $1 back on every Lyft ride you take. I walked over 40 miles while I was there so comfortable shoes are a must! We also bought that American casino guide and used a lot of their coupons for food and drinks.
