thinking we need to invest in one of these in the near future as we have manure piles everywhere. Which ones work good especially in thick grass? Any home made inexpensive ideas?? Also one that does tear up pasture so bad would be nice
If you still have taller grass I’m not sure how well it would get along, but when we’ve drug grass lots/pastures with shorter grass we’ve gotten along pretty well with a piece of chain link weighted down with some tires or something.
I’m not sure in tall grass you’re going to have much luck spreading piles without doing damage since you’ll need something fairly heavy and maybe more aggressive I’m guessing to get down into the tall stuff instead of skating over the top.
Best advice would be to keep the taller spots mowed down a bit if they aren’t eating them down so weighted chain link or a light harrow will spread the manure.

Where I board, they took old tractor tires and somehow sliced them in half and ran a cable through them. They drag these in the pastures and it knocks down all the piles.
