Location: Texas | Does anyone feed Select-Way alfalfa cubes? I have just started feeding them. I really like them. They're soft and my horses seem to like them well. I am struggling though with how much to feed. According to the feeding instructions on the bag it says 1-2% of their body weight. I just am not sure that my horses are satisfied with that amount. I have never not fed hay and fed it in a cube form, so maybe I'm overly worried. The only reason I'm evening switching to them is fear of quality hay being availble this year. Any thoughts/opinons? My husband is dead set that they're fine and I'm being over the top, but I just don't want them to lose body condition and/or be hungry. |

I don't feed cubes BUT I am a firm believer that horses need forage 24/7. I'm wondering if you can feed the 1-2% of the cubes and leave some grass hay in front of them??? |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I like seeing hay in front of horses 24/7 myself especially when its cold, I dont feed cubes, but have in the past for awhile with their feed, but I have always kept hay in front of them.. I would keep hay out for them to eat and feed the cubs to since you feel the hay is not good quality, but thats me, I hate seeing horses without hay especially when it gets really cold. |

Location: TExas | When I fed them I fed the 8qt bucket morning and night. Some horses I fed a 20qt bucket. The 20qt would last probably 4-5hrs. I liked them, our store just didn't sell a lot of them due to the HayRite hype. I personally liked Select way better because they where softer and my horses liked them and looked great on them. |

I agree on the grass hay. I have started feeding them grass hay along with the pellets in the last week so I bet that will help. They are still getting their grain I was feeding before too. |

I inbox messaged you, but do you feed grain too or just the cubes? I am glad to hear you had good success with them. I like them better than Hayrite for sure. |

| I feed D & D Nutrition Alfa Lux cubes. In the summer, I put them out in a bunk feeder. They had grass and the cubes.
this winter, I put out cubes still in the feeder, but also put out some regular grass hay. They don't necessarily eat the grass hay, but it makes me feel better knowing they have it in the case they do get hungry or cold.
I feed 10 lbs of cubes per horse per day along with a small portion of grain with a multivitamin. |
