We had a good son of Sail On Bunny years ago (like 25) that had this. It was a wierd looking deal for sure. We put him in a bitty stall for 3 months. then really started him back careful. He fully recovered and won some pro rodeo checks after that. We didnt have or do any special treatments, just kept him from using it. Im sure there is more these days.

I had a mare a few years ago that ruptured her peronious tertious when getting up from surgery. She spent 4 mo. In a stall, was re checked by u/s to confirm it was healed, legged up and returned to 1D times. I didn’t own a laser at the time so nothing was done outside of stall rest.

It has a good prognosis of healing but it takes time (months) and stall confinement. You could probably do the extra adjunctive stuff like laser therapy and all that, but I don't see anything cutting your healing time in half or anything like that so IDK if its worth the money to spend on the extras.

This is the injury where the hock gets all funky? And the big ligament over the back of the hock gets loose? If that's the right one, my mare did it. 90 days of stall rest, slow intro back to work. We actually found out in hindsight that she probably did it because she had EPM and struggled with some balance issues. But coulda been a complete fluke too. She recovered from the injury just fine, we treated the EPM after we figured that out, and she went from a grouchy mareish 3D horse to a sweet wonderful 1D mare.
