Good morning!

My husband found out yesterday that he will be stationed at Lackland AFB for about 18 months! We are so excited, but things are going to move pretty fast.
We’re trying to be moved in and settled by August 15, but preferably August 1st. We would like to take 3 horses with us.

So:

Any suggestions on where to live? We would prefer to rent over buying since we won’t be there long.

Where to board?

Is there a fair amount of rental property with land for horses that would be worth looking into?

What’s the barrel racing scene like there?

Any other tips or advice or opinions on San Antonio, send them my way. Thanks!

Theres alot of surrrounding towns all around San Antonio to live and have your horses, I live 20 mins from San Antonio, check with some realtors in the area you are planning to move to. And theres enought barrel racing to keep you happy..

Seguin is a cool little town.  Pretty horsey, I wouldn't think you would have a problem finding a rental with horse property at all.

If you are looking to board I know of a place in La Vernia and I'm pretty sure she has an Arena or 2 that you can use..

If you need a Realtor in the Seguin area, Cara Deharde is top-rated. She has handled a couple of sales for my brother, both with good results.

For your husbands sake I would commute only from the west or southwest. Castroville is out 90W and should have some property for horses.  Check with T Slash Bar ranch for boarding. 210-677-0502. I have a friend in Bandera that could look up properties for you or perhaps get you in the right hands for that area.
