They used to be all the rage about 20 years ago. Now you see them for sale all over the place. They pretty much proved that cold hosing your horses legs after a run was just as effective as 5,000 worth of equipment.

1. Not $5k 2. Work fantastic 3. Work good human bipedals 4. If you buy used make double darn sure that it's the newest design but they no longer service the old design.

I think they are great and use them daily in my clinic - for people who are immobilized due to injury and not walking or using the injured limb. For anyone (or animal) that can walk the natural contraction of the muscles and tendons will move out the swelling and you can use an ice pack or cold water followed with a light compression wrap to help keep swelling out. If you have the extra $$$ to spend they are nice. If I were using my own money I wouldn't buy one.
There are also many emerging studies out that ice and cold are actually not as beneficial as they once thought and muscle stimulation is becoming the "go-to" post workouts for people in lieu of cold therapy. Just food for thought.

The GameReady ice therapy unit is cool! It is better than just a cold wrap. The GR wraps give compression and release. It does work. The only draw back may be for some that the horse has to be attended to for most applications.
