Location: Sunny California | I’m downsizing to a 2 horse bumper pull. I’ve narrowed it down to these three brands. It seems I get more for my money with the Platinum and am leaning towards that trailer. I hate for things to go wrong, it drives me crazy. So I really want a trailer that will last with the least amount of things to go wrong. Recommendations? |

Location: Northwest | I’m currently pulling an ‘08 Platinum LQ and love it. It is my second Platinum trailer. I haven’t had the other brands before, but I have had an Elite which is also a great trailer. They were all well built, have had no issues with any of them. I have also been eye balling an older Cimarron bp and also a Platinum bp. Between the two I think the Platinum is going to be a little bit more well built and have better resale. |

All three are good trailers, but that would be my order

| We’ve got a Platinum, it would be my choice of those 3 although I’ve never owned the other 2, just what research I’ve done and what people seem to be happy with. |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | I think those are all top quality/top tier trailers. I’d add Elite, 4-Star, and Bloomer to the list.
That said, my personal preference is Platinum, mainly because of my experience with a wreck about 11 years ago. Some people here might remember it. I was hauling 4 horses on the interstate in my 4H/LQ Platinum. It was winter, and the roads seemed good...until we hit black ice. We hit the ditch sideways and rolled over twice completely and the trailer landed upright.
The deputy said it was the worst non-fatal wreck he’d seen in his 30 year experience. Everyone in the pickup wound up in ambulances and spent most of the night in the ER. The pickup looked like a squashed beer can. The trailer had a few things broken off, like A/C, lights, etc...but other than that you could hardly tell it was in a wreck. There were several hoof-shaped holes in the roof, so the horses were tossed around, but all 4 survived without so much as a scratch.
After that experience, it’s hard to talk myself into anything other than a Platinum. |

| I have a 2000 model Hart 6 Horse and just had to have the roof resealed... 18 years later! Very well built, hearty trailers. I also just had my dressing room and midtack converted into a weekend package and the guy said it was the best put together trailer he had ever worked on.
I cannot speak for a Platinum or Cimmaron.

Location: Sunny California | I know some people have suggested 4 star trailers, but I had a custom one built about 11 years ago and had nothing but problems with it, so I'm a little sour on them. |

“Hart is the best made trailer out there”
Cimarron is similar to Hart as the guy who started it used to work at Hart. I’ve had both and love my cimarron, but holy hell is my Hart solid.
Looking at specs, pay attention to what the manufacturer says about the frame, floor joists, things of that nature because you’d be surprised at how cheap and flimsy some of those big names are. |

We own a 2014 4Star and a 2008 Cimarron. The Cimarron is MUCH better made. Kinda sad, really, that the so called top of the line trailer isn't anymore. |

Location: Sunny California | Dreaming of and and Fun2 Run....What is the width of your Cimmaron and Hart? The ones I’m looking at are 6’10” wide, and I was just wondering if that makes much of a difference compared to a 7 ft wide trailer.

My hart is 7’ wide but I think my cimarron was 6’10” and I never had an issue. Loaded big 16+ hand horses to smaller ones and everyone had ample room.
I’ll measure my cimarron for you tomorrow |

Same here, my 2006 is still fabulous, also agree the floors are much stronger. Cimmaron floors have cross members at 4” centers, Platinums are every 12”. I will never be without an insulated roof again- love it- it is about 20 degrees cooler and that makes a big difference hauling in the heat we have here in Texas.

Location: Sunny California | Thanks for the replies. I’ve got a local dealer that sells Cimmaron and am going to go look at those tomorrow. I like the idea of the insulated roof sine it is so hot here 6 months of the year here. When I get some more time I will go look at the Platinum trailers since they are a little farther away. |
