Location: Idaho | **4/8/19** **We finally got a day off and were able to get her into be scoped. I worked her in the round pen and of course, she did not wheeze or anything for the vet! But when she stopped and rested a moment, she coughed and sneezed and blew out all the white mucous I had been describing. Scope showed inflammation just behind her larynx, in her trachea, causing the mucous. We tested for infection, but that wasn't her case. She will get a round of steroids to reduce the inflammation and the vet thinks should resolve her issue. ** I have a mare that's been laid off for two years for a stifle type lameness. We had her teeth done and I started riding her again last fall. She felt really good and didnt note any problems in the first few rides. Took her out one day, started jogging and her breathing sounded rough (shes never had breathing issues in the past). She had some nasal discharge and some foaming with the bit. Coughing occasionally during that ride. She wasnt a top priority at the time and winter showed up, so not much riding after that. Have ridden her on and off, light rides since. Her breathing is still rough with light exercise. I've notice the nasal drainage is pretty much only in the left nostril. No foam in her mouth but we are using a hackamore. I was almost thinking there might be a foreign body in her sinuses. We are snowed in at the moment so I haven't been able to take her in to the vet. Anyone have any experiences with horses getting something lodged in their sinuses? Or anything that cause similar symptoms?
