Cohen was well rehearsed by Lanny Davis, and his opening statement had the stench of Schiff all over it. This is an act of desperation by the Democrats.
A litany of old unproven allegations by a proven, legally convicted liar.....who was caught in a lie yet again even today.  Even Dianne Feinstein tweeted that Cohen has a “credibility problem”.Why would he do this? That’s obvious to me. He has one “trump” card: the outside chance a Democrat will be elected POTUS in 2020, whereupon he will be pardoned, at least shaving a year or more off his sentence.....plus a lucrative book deal and countless lucrative speaking engagements.

In poker parlance, I’d say he’s trying to draw on an inside straight.

Hillary is getting her revenge.  The imagery of Lanny sitting behind Cohen as he recites Lanny’s written, rehearsed statement is just too rich.  There’s no escaping the Clinton stench filled the room.  Lanny’s lips have been surgically attached to Hillary’s fat smelly as$ for 25 years, and now he is representing her archrival’s spurned, convicted felon, former attorney. Jim Jordan eviscerated him and it sounds like he will end up facing even more legal troubles for lying/misleading congress yet again. Even CNN expressed doubts about Cohen’s remarks.  Imagine that.

There is potentially a silver lining here, though.  Since the Trump payoffs were brought up, yet again, perhaps this might dovetail handsomely into the millions of taxpayer dollars we have had to spend to settle sexual harassment and discrimination claims, the details of which happen to conveniently elude the public eye, for the most part.  

While I thought Cohen’s statements could not be believed, what sealed my opinion was four things:

1.) That Cohen said he had no desire for a position within the Trump Administration.

2.) That Cohen had some sort of 11th hour epiphany where he found truth, honesty, and integrity just a couple months ago, after he was ostensibly “proud” to be the “personal attorney for the POTUS”, who he served for the last 11 years.

3.) He is going to prison for matters unrelated to Trump, like tax evasion, fraud, and perjury.

4.) Cohen’s claim that Trump didn’t expect to win, and looked at the 2016 as a tremendous “infomercial”. Even Trump’s enemies laughed at that one, particularly when Cohen said Trump was “all about winning”.....which is it Micheal?

He’s a rat who violated his sacred bond of attorney-client privilege and was disbarred.  I’m guessing he had no other choice.

All of this was clearly meant to overshadow any good news from Vietnam.  That’s obvious to me.

I found something today in my reading of an article about this charade.  It made made me re-evaluate my formerly VERY low opinion of Cohen.

Do you know personal details of every person you do business with?   Sometimes all we need are people who will get the job done.  We don't do personal background checks on them.  What Mueller did (raiding Cohens office, home, etc...) looking for dirt on Trump is illegal as hell. Think client/attorney priviledge.  What will they do about that?

Now a person that knows Trump and worked closely with Trump says that Trump is a racist. Contestants on the apprentice say that Trump made racist comments regularly and that there are recordings. They have tried to get the recordings made public but it's not been allowed. Why wouldn't Trump tell the studio to release the recordings if they would clear his name?

If I remember correctly, the story of Paul had to do with salvation and seeing/believing in a resurrected Jesus and became a true believer.

I did watch and after seeing most of hearing yesterday, Cohen will do/say anything to save his own skin and is not remorseful. He also has no plan at redemption; book deal, movies in the future. Most of what he was convicted of was lying and defrauding for his own gain. He won’t change.

A serial killer has no real remorse or salvation in his heart either, just trying to ‘save’ himself.

The Democrats biggest fear is that Trump is actually making significant inroads with African American voters.  This is not just because of criminal justice reform, enterprise zones, and all time low unemployment numbers amongst blacks.  There is a rapidly growing number of African American leaders and intellectuals who have been emboldened and are now speaking out.  Rank and file African Americans are following suit, and it is scaring the hell out of Democrats.  Fact is that African Americans are doing better under Trump than at any time under Obama, and by a long shot.  Their real incomes are up, unemployment is down, criminal justice reforms have been signed into law by Trump, and the “opportunity zones” provided by the tax reform bill are all looked upon favorably by many African Americans.  He’s offered more than the hate-inciting rhetoric offered by Democrats.  The only way for Democrats to succeed at the ballot box is through the survival of “racism”. They NEED racism, even to the extent that we have been seeing an epidemic of “hate crime” hoaxes being revealed, like that seen with Jussie Smollett.  All they are left with is this continual battle cry that “Trump is a racist”.  We saw that yesterday in the Cohen hearings where the Democrats seized upon the unverifiable, heresay claims of Trump’s allegedly racist remarks from a convicted perjurer.  

Slowly but surely African Americans are leaving the Democrat plantation.  As a hedge, in anticipation of this movement, Democrats have been forced to reconnoiter and survey the landscape for new, gullible voters......illegal immigrants.

Congressmen Meadows and Jordan are on the trail of Cohen seeking more criminal charges for lying to Congress "again" yesterday.  SouthTX was right.  He needed to shut the heck up.

With all due respect, I didn’t see an admission of an epiphany in Cohen yesterday. I saw a man regurgitating statements authored by the man seated behind him, Lanny Davis, the Clinton bootlicker-lawyer.  I don’t believe Cohen was blinded by the light, like Saul (Paul) on the road to Damascus.  I don’t think someone called out to say, “Cohen, why do you persecute me?” I saw a man who was afraid his wife would wind up in jail for her being complicit in his fraud, plus a play for a possible pardon in a couple years, should a Democrat win the election. I saw Sammy “the bull” Gravano, only worse. I saw a man open himself up to further jail time, actually.

While we are making biblical references, I suppose one could look at a flawed man like Donald Trump and draw parallels to flawed men in the Bible who were chosen by God.  Moses was a murderer. David was an adulterer and conspired to have his mistresses husband killed. Job went bankrupt. Samson was a horny womanizer. Rahab was a slut. Indeed Jesus himself chose flawed men to be his disciples.  Judas was a “rat” who betrayed Jesus, and Peter was a coward who denied even knowing Jesus three times.

If I had to draw any biblical parallels to yesterday’s shameful display, images of Paul do not come to mind. Instead, I would say that a far more accurate parallel could be drawn between Cohen and Judas.  Judas was given 30 pieces of silver for his betrayal, and time will reveal Cohen’s reward.  Judas hung himself....so did Cohen.  Judas went to hell.  Cohen?

Trump is a racist is a narrative the media created and used to interpret his statements and the left bought it hook line and sinker.  It’s this narrative that is dividing the country - if you voted for Trump then that makes you a racist too- a big load of crap but gets them followers and headlines.  Very sad and if anyone thinks that the leaders of both parties are any different -that one side has a different ideology- they are gullible and stupid.  The top layer of our political “leaders” are all the same - they just package their message with different talking points that will get them elected- none of them practice what they preach- they are all rich guys saying it is the other rich guys who are the problem.   Strife and division and class warfare is their MO- more so for the Democrats.  Trump says  stupid stuff, he should keep his mouth shut most of the time,  but he is no more immoral than Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton numerous presidents before them- Kennedy was a known womanizer but lived in a time where the press did not report it. You know what is immoral?   Letting viable babies born alive die,  voting to allow abortions up until the moments before birth in the case where the mother’s health is threatened which can include mental health also .    Why is it necessary to kill the baby before you deliver it-you know what it’s NOT-  you can deliver a baby alive and the mother will still be saved.  I guess everybody who votes  Democrat has no problem with the death of these innocent full-term viable babies that for some reason need to be killed because if they’re born alive, for some reason that will kill the mother-  it just doesn’t make sense. The argument that it doesn’t happen very often and that it’s rare is BS - look at Gossnell - if it never happens why do you need this law?

If you want to pick out the president who has led the most morally sound, selfless, decent life in recent history, I’d have to say it was Jimmy Carter.  He has walked the walk as a philanthropist and his commitment to things like “Habitat for Humanity” after he left office will forever be remembered.  

As President, however, most people have a difficult time identifying anything noteworthy, with one exception being the Camp David Accords, a treaty between Egypt and Israel.  He won a Nobel Peace Prize for spearheading that effort. Those hostages were released on the day Reagan was elected, marking the beginning of our gradual recovery from the Carter years.

Following Carter, we had an “idiot”, Ronald Reagan, who the left (along with a complicit mainstream media) warned us would drag us into a World War III nuclear holocaust with the Soviet Untion because of his reckless, incendiary rhetoric toward the Soviet Union. That “reckless cowboy” told the brutal truth about the “Evil Empire”, and his approach led to the collapse of the Soviet Union, freedom for Western Europe, and tearing down of the Berlin Wall.....all without firing a single shot.

Personally, I prefer a reckless cowboy and “useful idiot” like Reagan over a nice guy like Jimmy Carter.....but that’s just me.  

Oh the bible is is full of exactly that sort of example. Which was sort of my point. It is kind of silly to use the condemnation of Cohen as a potential murderer who suddenly found God when that exact type of person, extremely sinful and then saved, is found throughout the bible. Again, I have not watched the video or paid much attention to this stuff this week. I don't know much about Cohen himself. I have been swamped under 100 papers for grading all week, taking an occasional break on here. I just was looking down through the discussion and found the analogy ironic because of the numerous people in the Old Testament and New Testament who start out that way and the whole point in the Bible is that pretty much anyone, no matter how sinful, can be saved and forgiven by God. It's actually sort of the major point of the entire New Testament. The example given by Gator Bug was just a bit ironic considering that. I haven't taken any part in the political aspects of this discussion and won't because I just am not informed on it enough because of my current busyness. And I don't want anyone to think I am attacking Gator Bug or anything. Like I said, I just saw a bit of irony in the analogy.  I believe the larger point she was trying to point out was his hypocrisy. Judas to some degree might make a good analogy but Caiaphas might make a better, when it comes to hypocrisy anyway. And those are a bit more biblically supported examples of hypocrisy. I always loved Dante's description of hypocrites in the Inferno. They are forced to wear lead robes that are beautiful on the outside but inside the pretty exterior is a common heavy metal indicative of their internal value and each of them actually walk over Caiaphas nailed out on the ground as if he were on a cross. Chilling view of punishment. But Dante sort of excelled at fitting the punishment to the crime. All that is just an aside anyway.  Carry on. :)
