| I feel like I haven't heard people talk about legend in a while on here. I was always under the impression that it was only good for a few days after administration. It wasn't as long lasting as Adequan. I have a friend that did loading doses of legend and now she gives it monthly. She's had phenomenal results. Does anyone else use it monthly after loading doses? Thanks!

Thanks! Only use it 12-18 hours before a run. My vet said it has a very short half life. I use adequan 2-3 loading doeses a year and Legend just when I run. Polyglycan is better for montly dosing.

Location: Claremore, OK | Adequan and Legend have two different mechanisms. Adequan is a PSGAG designed to improve cartilage quality . Legend improves synovial fluid. In the last several years most vets recommend the loading dose of Adequan 1 time in spring and 1 time in late summer, no monthly shots after the loading dose. Legend stays in the joint 4 days. It takes about 2 days to get to the hind end, so you would give it at the end of the week if you were going to a jackpot on the weekend. Just randomly giving it once per month probably won’t do much good. As far as I k ow, there’s no loading dose for Legend.

The way my vet explained it, it’s a myth that legend actually gets into the joint. If that was the case it would get in, and stay there. The HA attaches to inflammation receptors outside the joint and keeps the joint protected. I’m hoping casualsust will chime in here.

As far as it being a myth (Legend), HA, even in an IA injection, doesn’t last very long, so I wouldn’t expect IV HA (whether it’s Legend or another HA product) to last very long either. To effectively use Polyglycan (if you’re in to off label use) it’s biggest benefit would be in the HA fraction, not the Glucosamine part. I might be mistaken, but I don’t thought I recalled some early studies on IV Legend where they radioactively tagged it and tracked it to the joints. The timing I described is what works for me and I can see very noticeable results :-)

Agree! I love legend.... for the few hours it actually works! LOL It peaks in 2-4 hours so actually you could give it at the trailer couple hours before you run.
