| I have a gelding that was just recently discovered to be developing arthritis in his hocks. I had both injected, have Equicoxx for his bad flare up days, and want to know approaches others have taken. CBD pellets vs oil? Best joint supplement? Ice vibe vs flow boot hock wraps? Pht or BOT? There are just SO many options and I want to see what has worked best for everyone else before I spend hundreds testing each thing out. TIA!

I would not bother with joint supplements that are feed through. I would stick with an injection that your vet recommends. If there is already arthritis starting, PENTOSAN is my go to in those situations with LEGEND on race days. Polyglycan is also a good option. I would inject the hocks IA as recommended by your vet as well. I have also used topical Diclofenac cream or equioxx in conjunction with injections as well. |

I second not bothering with feed thru suppliments. I have not used Legend or Pentosan, but I have used Ployglycan for 2 years now on my older mare with success. She is injected 2x per year and we give her polyglycan at home for maintanence in between injections. |

| I had two separate, non-related, from different practices vets tell me they believe in Equithrive feed through supplement. I have one horse on it and he does very well on it. |

| I never thought I’d say this....but NRF2. It really helps pain and bone issues. We have a gelding with 3 fractured vertebrae. He’s been on it since January and he’s never felt better. He acts like a colt now. It’s relatively cheap to try. |

Location: Southeast Ga | I have a gelding that pentasan has done wonders for. He has been on it for years when his hock injections finally quit working for him. Was going to retire him but the vet suggested pentasan. He also gets Prevacox once a day. He just turned 22 and still can run in the 2D and just ran a 21.8 in the poles last weekend

| I'm not typically a feed through joint supplement person. I give injectibles. Having said that, CBD isn't what I would call a "joint supplement". It feeds the endocrine system and functions to help with inflammation. This has been very beneficial for many horses, including one of mine with stifle and hock issues. I wouldn't be without CBD for him. And, he still gets injectibles to help with overall joint health. I buy my CBD from here, their service rocks: https://plantaceacbd.com/1=466 |
