Hey BBs, thought I'd reach out and see if any of you all know of anywhere to rent from Buchanan, VA up to Lexington, VA?

I'm happy to announce I've accepted a position at the VA Horse center! Super excited to start a new journey in a direction I've always wanted to go.

Now we need a place to live! I know of 2 possibilities but thought I'd see if you all know more.

-I'm educated. It would be me and my serious boyfriend who is educated and has a steady/wonderful job.

-It would be our 2 dogs. One is 12 lbs and the other is around 50. Both behaved and timid so they wouldn't cause issues.

-Most important is my horse who I'd be fine with putting on pasture. I can take care of him and I buy my hay. We have 5 chickens but we can figure out another arrangement for them.

Of course not looking to be too too expensive but I understand what I'm asking for isn't cheap! We can also help with stalls, mowing, tractor work, etc. We want to do this for a 6 months- a year or so before we buy. Any thoughts or ideas? You can post on here or PM me! Thanks!!

What are you going to be doing at the horse center?? One of my favorite venues!

You should consider 30 minutes north, south and east-ish of Lexington. South of Staunton should have some results, I would think. The I-81 corridor is pretty well dotted with farms and small towns, but Lexington sits in a cradle of short mountain ranges. Lexington itself is a college/VMI town.

Good luck finding the right situation for you and your critters. I would think you should be able to hit all your needs pretty easy.

And I'll see you in May at the Virginia Classic!

We live in Rockbridge Co., I can think of several good places to board your horse but right now my mind is blank on a lease/rent place for you, your dogs and horses.

As far as the Horse Center goes, it is a WONDERFUL facility. As you know, you will not be working with horses, there is always TONS of maintenance and all the office work that needs to be done. My family that lives out of town always asks, Why don't you work at the Horse Center?? Well, because I dont' want to do facility maintenance or be stuck in an office.

Anyhoo, PM me and I can send you some local FB page groups that might help you.

I'll be over the Stable Office! It's always a little nerve wracking starting something new but I'm very excited this new journey!

I love the Staunton area, but my boyfriend works in Buchanan so we were trying to stay around Lexington or south of Lexington so his drive is reasonable as well. Thank you for the suggestion though! I'll still consider things above Lexington if it's not too terribly far for him. Thank you for sharing her post too!

Yay! I'd love to meet a fellow BBs

ETA: we were just told we can rent where we live for as long as we need so that helps alleviate our urgency to find something quickly; just a little bit of a far drive for me

Thank you! Will do, I don't have Facebook but I'm sure some may still come up public.
