If you could get transferred to Texas what city would you want to go to.   Dallas.  Fort Worth Houston. San Antonio?  Keeping in mind affordability of horse property and barrel racing access

Personally, I would say Dallas. I like the areas east of there...Whitesboro, Collinsville, Emory..

We moved to Terrell in Sept 2017 from SW La. When we first moved here, there was a race pretty much every week night with a 20 min to an hour drive and races every weekend. I joked with my friends that I was going to go broke here. I personally want to be west of here, north of FW if we could but with our jobs, that isnt possible. So we are south of Dallas, renting 4 acres. We are 2 hrs to waco, 45 min from alvarado, A little over an hour or so to Glen Rose., an hour and a half to Weatherford, 3 hrs from Marshall, and about an hour to Athens. I can haul in any direction and hit races. You cant go wrong in the DFW area. The races are salty and they draw alot of people. Land prices will be cheaper if you go south or east. And there are jobs galore in the DFW area. The weather really isnt that bad. Yes it gets hot but the humidity is so low that to me, its bearable. Good luck wherever you choose.

Weatherford. I don't live there, I'm about an hour away, but I've always loved going there :)

I have lived in the Dallas area my whole life.  It is never really that cold here.  If it is cold, just wait and next week it is probably going to be 50 or 60.  Lots of barrel racing within a reasonable distance.  Lots of covered arenas.  Hot in the summer but that is what they make air conditioning and arena lights for.  Can't handle the humidity in Houston.  San Antonio is nice but I don't know anything about the barrel racing.

Fort Worth - I'm not much on Dallas, but I LOVE Fort Worth.  Lived about an hour south of there for 20 years, more barrel races than you can possibly haul to and you don't have to deal with the insanity of Dallas.

Yep, hate the traffic and the overall vibe in Dallas. It's very hipster and snooty compared to Fort Worth. My sister owns a traveling petting zoo and when we've done public events in Dallas (like Klyde Warren Park), you woudn't believe the grief we get from people who think the animals are so mistreated because they're in a small pen with no shade on a 75 degree day We call them PETA people, lol. I honestly avoid Dallas as much as possible.
