Awhile back I posted about my Amish pony that ended up being pregnant. She's a pinto. She looks like she's going to pop out her baby any day now. I'm terrible at thinking up names, and my kids are in the potty talk phase, so their suggestions are all Poop or Fart or Toilets... things like that. I thought it might be fun to go with something Easter related? Or maybe something that means "surprise" since we didn't know we bought a bred pony? Mama and her sister are named after horses in a James Herriott book, so I'm also open to names from books as well. Anyway... any suggestions would be great!!

Since you're not sure if the foal will be a little filly or colt, here's a couple different names:

Beatrix (the Peter Rabbit author, but Beatrix also means blessed)
Mira (short for Miracle)
Pippin (German, meaning awe-inspiring, miracle)
Boone (means "a blessing", but also could be for Daniel Boone- that story may intrigue your little ones)

My aunt had a Lhasa Apso (sp) that she didn't know "got a boyfriend" and when she had the single puppy, Aunt Angie named him Gomer (for suurprize, suurprize, surrprize off Andy Griffith show)

I like "Surprise".

I think the name would even work if it is a boy or a girl. LOL
