| How important are they for a working horse and what is the best source? Do you feed an extra amino acid source if your feed of choice doesnt include any? I know the 3 majors are Lysine, Methionine, & Threonine. I'm still feeding Platinum performance, I almost decided to try something else but looking over the ingredients and analysis theyve got the 3 majors covered. I should probably just stick with the PP and not try to get all fancy and scientist-y my boys are doing well on it with just 1 scoop a day. Sometimes it seems expensive but that 25lb bucket seems to last forever! |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | They are pretty important and a lot of supplements don't have them. THE Equine Edge has them included. |

Location: Willows, CA | Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. The issue is typically whether or not there are enough “essential Amino Acids” in the diet. These are the ones that the horses body can not produce in enough volume to meet its needs, and must be supplied intact from food. Most quality feeds address this, and a separate amino acid supplement should not be needed. |

Are Amino acids naturally occurring in Alfalfa? |

| I would stay with Platinum, it has everything and i can tell a huge difference in my 2 that have allergies, I just wish it were cheaper! I noticed the biggest difference after i changed my feeding- the horse with skin issues and would cough when i first get on 1 pound bluebonnet intensify sr, 1 scoop platinum, alfalfa and grass(summer) and grass hay in winter am and pm She quit coughing which was a surprise, but have had NO skin issues this year- If they are not getting All the amino acids- just one lacking it really affects the body. The biggest thing I did was increase her alfalfa just a little but the biggest was platinum twice a day! |

Yes, I'm really leaning towards keeping the platinum. And just signing up for auto ship to save on shipping. It's really not THAT much more expensive if you factor in everything that platinum has in it. |
