Hey ya'll, I'm finally trying to get my ducks in a row to register my colt. I was on the site today and reading through the FAQ's because everything on the site appears to reference my maiden name. I was not married at the time I first joined, and dont show AQHA, so I didn't figure it much mattered. I've never figured out how or bothered to inquire how to change it. But, now I want to make sure my married name is what is on this colt's papers. So if any of you have experience with doing that, that would be quite helpful. But that's not my MAIN question.
While trying to figure out how to do this in the FAQ, I see that it states "mares born in or after 1989 have to be DNA typed to register their offspring." Is this true? How would I know if she's already been DNA typed? Other than just call AQHA, pray someone answers and ask? She was live covered, if that matters.
Any thoughts on how this might affect registering my colt?
Thanks!!!
If you have a membership log in for the AQHA website, you can get free reports that will show DNA and genetic testing results. If you don't have a log in, just let me or someone know. We can do it for you with the registered name of the horse.
