Our daughter just notified us of a friend they have in Oklahoma that is battling for his life in a hospital.  I know very little right now other than his name is Ryan Davis and his parents hosted my daughters engagement party.  And Ryan is special forces.  From the picture, it looks like Ranger.He's in surgery now and will be for several more hours.  He's in a medically induced coma and will be for another week or two.  His wife is asking for prayers.  I will keep everyone posted.  Please pray now.

Ryan is still in very very critical condition. Not out of any woods. He knows I need my husband and Knox needs his dad though.
Overall an uneventful night, which is good. Blood pressure is stable with hardly any medicine, heart rate has been great, kidneys still not working but on crrt dialysis, his blood needs to start clotting a little in all the right places not the wrong places, his labs need improvement, and all but he is fighting!! He is my fighter. He is surgery now so please pray which i know you all do great!!
He opened his eyes last night so wide. He tried to get his tube out last night, he moved his eyes, and he moved his eye brows! All last night
This morning he tried to get tube out again, moved his eyes, his head and eye brows.
God is amazing and my husband is my fighter!!

Update from Asia (Ryan's wife)  Thursday morning August 22, 2019

Ryan is still in very very critical condition. Not out of any woods but he is here. Pray pray and pray! So very thankful for our good lord and our prayer warriors. He is working his miracles. Ryan is fighting cause yes he is a fighter and wont stop. I have continued to tell him that. I need him and his son needs him.

His surgery today went as good as it could go. They did not have to take anything more. They closed his left leg and his right arm they will skin graph in next couple weeks. Pray that those are successfully taken care of. Pray also that he heals inside his body. Right top thigh/hip/pelvic area looks good as far as his dead areas and wounds. They will work on all that a couple weeks down the road. The Doctors here are amazing, they are doing everything they can.

There are 2 strands of bacteria in blood. We need to kill those!! Pray the strep gets killed with the antibiotics! Pray hard that the Afghanistan bacteria gets killed with drugs, it is resistant to antibiotics but they are hoping to finding different ones.

That one is the top of their concern. Those Afghanistan A***H****s! They placed a feeding tube past his stomach, so pray he takes those well. He needs nutrition to fight! Tomorrow they're hopefully taking the day off to give his body a break. If all goes good tonight they will do just that and continue surgery Friday.

Lord please give him the strength he needs. He is a fighter. We love him oh so much. Please pray everyone ?????thank you to all for praying and giving it to the Lord.

He hears us and is not in pain. I need my hubby and Knox man needs his daddy. We love you babe. Keep fighting!!! Pray pray and pray. Prat warriors keep it up they are working.
Today was a stable day. Ryan is still in very very very critical condition. He is not out of any woods. His labs have been stable today. They are pumping his body with antibiotics that he needs for the blood infections. Please pray for his infections and that his infections get treated with antibiotics. Feeding tube is dripping slowly, they will stop that now for surgery tomorrow. His hearing test is good, considering I was worried about the antibiotic that were going to kill his hearing. His lungs didnt sound very good tonight with the nurse. They did a breathing treatment but still sounded bad. Please pray for his lungs. Going in for surgery tomorrow morning please pray for a successful surgery.

 I just found an article online that says Ryan was in a grenade attack.It says he is gravely ill, continued prayers for Ryan.

Update...Thank you to all who have been praying, thinking of us and believing. It means the world to us. Ryan is still very very critical. Prayers are working. He is working miracles. Ryan is a fighter. We are fighting with him.
Bacteria still in blood but on medicine. Lungs much better still not good. They took him off ventilator this Afternoon. Kidneys still not working very good. His feeding tube not working the best for him so they will try and work with that tonight. I walked in there around 12:30 and just started talking to him for a good 20 min.. I told him that if he needed to nap and if he didnt want visitors or he was tired to tell people or nurse. So I asked can you say that. He said yes. So i told him i was leaving but giving 5 min for him to gather himself before I let another vistor in. Then I told his dad and one of his old company commander in. Only for 5 min. They came out and I was getting ready to send 2 more visitors in...... then the nurse came out and asked to talk to me. She then proceeded to tell me Ryan asked for me to tell his wife that he needs to take a @****( use your imagination)  nap. ?? thats my hubby.
Please pray for the bacteria infection in his blood, his kidneys, his lungs to get stronger from them collapsing, the medicine in which is trying to help his body, his wounds that are healing and please pray for him to continue fighting and getting better. He needs them!

That attitude is a good sign!   I'm gonna continue to open this thread daily with faith that God will continue to heal and bring Ryan back to his family and friends

UPDATE....all from morning
They did a eco on heart this morning. Please pray that comes back good. The cpap is still working . He is breathing 100 on that. The x-ray this morning showed cloudy lungs. Pray the dialysis machine helps that. Blood pressure is elevated so they are giving medication for that. There was a inclusion in his neck. So they started the medicine drip to break that up. Praying this works. The ultrasound of leg and arm are good. The ultrasound of heart looked good too last night. Pray pray and pray. Once i see him later today and talk to Doc. I will give another update. That was this morning.
Just spoke with infectious disease doctor too. The e coli that was in his bone they took out on friday is still postive in his body so they are hitting him with more Colistin to try and kill this nasty bug. They are also testing other medications to see if they can add more to kill it.
Spoke with Dr...Echo is back, supporting the diagnosis of blood clot in lung, but small clot. Not putting chest tube in, just did ultrasound of his lung not putting chest tube in. Going to get more fluid off with dialysis, that should help his lungs more. The clot in neck is where the line was. So not too surprised, thinning his blood now and took that line out so should be "treated" blood thinner for 3 months.

We can never thank our military men and women enough for what they do. Such an unselfish act.????????????

Newer Update from Asia Ann
Update this morning. He is going into the OR this morning. His lungs are still hurting him. The x-ray showed no new stuff but still very cloudy with a little fluid. He was on the nose oxygen all night but this morning he was having issues breathing so i asked them to put him back on the cpap. He didnt want it but then when i was talking to him about knox needing he said yes i think thats a good idea. So they put him back on it. They were able to pull off the amount of fluid they wanted from the dialysis machine. He is fighting and knows how much he needs to. His kidneys still aren't good but the machine is working for them.
Please pray for a successful surgery. His lungs to start getting better. His body to continue to fight. His pain to not be so bad. His kidneys to continue to fight. His infections start to get treated with the antibiotics.
Thank you all for your continue prayers. Thank you Katie B for holding down the fort with Knox man. Along with all the help with the neighbors and freinds there in Savannah! Couldn't do it without all of you.

8/30/2019 Latest update from Asia....Thank you to all who have been praying, thinking of us and believing. It means the world to us.
Surgery this morning.
Ryan is still in very critical. Prayers are working. He is working miracles. Ryan is a fighter. We are fighting with him.
Overall had a pretty uneventful day. He was pretty good this morning. Spent about 50 minutes with him. He was complaining about phantom pains. I talked to nurse about medicine. So they decided to up his medicine for the pain during the day and night. He was worried about his kidneys and lungs. His kidneys are still not functioning but they are on dialysis. I told him they are okay right now. His blood work has been good today besides the infections that are still in his body. His blood pressure has been high. But the medicine has been able to control it. His xray of lung still shows fluid and very cloudy.
He was himself in so many ways today. His humor and his love for being alive. The prayers have been working.
Please continue to pray for the lungs to get clear and better. Pray for his kidneys to keep fighting. Pray for His body to continue to heal. His wounds to stay clean and His bacteria infection in his body to get clear. His surgery tomorrow morning to be good too. His heart to continue to fight and beat. Pray warriors pray and praise the Lord.

He did not have a good day. Found puss by tailbone traveling to left area. They blasted that with bleach and antibiotics..cut a 20 cm incision took out only 3cm of fat that may have been dead tomorrow. They will take him back in for surgery tomorrow. Just a rollercoater of a ride.
Lord please continue to fight with Ryan. I ask you to lord to get inside of his body and kill this infection. Give him the strength he needs to fight this and continue to fight.”

Prayer warriors please pray for this bacteria CRE and e.coli infection to get killed in his body. Its there but not in his blood, thank you Jesus
Amen to another good surgery day, thank you god!! Ryan still in very critical condition. But, no dead stuff and no infection. He breathed better again during the surgery too. Staples on his stomach ripped but they fixed them. no word on the antibiotic from Japan but the FDA gave the green light so its a waiting game.
Over all Ryan is doing okay, vitals are good. Docs are looking to extubate him so he can get a break from the tube in his mouth. They will continue with oxygen. They are going to push nutrition hard he needs it big time. Pray that goes smoothly. They will also be doing a PET CT scan tomorrow. Praying that will help. He will go back in for surgery Wednesday.

Haven't commented til now but I've been keeping up with Ryan. He and his family are in my thoughts and prayers. 

Is there anything we can do for the family? Meal trains, gift cards, etc?

Prayers for these infections and bacteria to be gone.Many prayers that he can be without that tube,I bet it is so frustrating! Update....RLTW & RWLTW & RKLTW ?????Praying to the man upstairs. Our God is an awesome God.
Pretty stable/okay day today. Just a few words that stuck with me today. My parents were on speaker phone saying i love you and how proud they are of him. I said you dont need to talk just listen. Afterwards he looked at me and said "they know i love them." I said yes they do thats why you didnt need to say anything for your lungs sake. Then we were in there before bed and he was telling me to go get him clothes so we can get out. I said where do you want to go he said "stop asking questions get me clothes and lets go." Love that man.
His pancreatitis is not good he is in a lot of pain. Praying that gets a little better. His left lung from x-ray looks worse then yesterday but he is off vent and on oxygen through nose tube. His pneumonia is still there. Praying that starts to turn around. His bacteria/infection is still not in blood but still in body. Hopeful to get meds tomorrow or Saturday. Praying those work. The antifungal antibiotics I pray are still working and fighting his fungas. His kidneys seem to be working but will not stop dialysis cause of the amount of fluid they need to get off of his body. He is very swollen from all the blood, surgerys and antibiotics. He may go in for surgery tomorrow or he may not. Thats up in the air as of right now getting off phone with doctor.

“Update...pray, pray and pray. Our marathon and rollercoater
Last night he was stable. Had a pretty okay night after what happend yesterday. Only slept for about 4/5 hours. His white count went down from 18 to 15. His lungs sounded good cause they put that tube in his left lung yesterday during surgery, so very thankful for that durning this time. Ryan was really tired when Doc went in this morning at 11:30. She was talking to him and had a good convo. She mesaged me saying hey is tired but come up and keep him awake for a little bit.
I got over to hospital at 12. Buzzed to be let in, was told had to wait 10 min. Within 5 minutes the alarm started going off which is (code blue alarm.) I said thats Ryan, put down my phone and prayed. Next a dr came flying into the waiting room pressing the button prob 8 times to get in. Couldn't get in. Then the door opened to the side so she flung in. A nurse 10 seconds later comes out to waiting room and says there is an emergency up here we arent letting anyone in. I said it was a doctor trying to get in not me, but is it my husband. She said dont know who it is but its an emergency. I then said to myself yes its my husband time to pray again. Prayed and text Dr saying " I just heard alarms back there....god please dont tell me its him ." 2 min later she comes walking out i said it was him but he didnt stop completely breathing thank GOD!!
We caught him in time and he was slower then yesterday. He was talking to the nurses, he then said i am having problems breathing. They put a cold rag on his head and started to fan him. They called in the RT nurse. Ryan then said i need rizzo which is his main Dr. So they called her up. When the RT nurse came in his stats were 100. They all said i know but he says he is having problems. As soon as his Dr came in he started breathing like he did yesterday and his stats were at 50/60 for oxygen. She started talking to him telling him to breath he said i cant. She said you just talked so you can. Breath deep in your nose and out through mouth. He did big nose then little breath out and said no. She then said Ryan %@*&%ing breath. He started to breath. They gave him medicine to calm down after that. I was then let in the room.
They are now saying its a panic attack. There is nothing new with medicine and or anything that would make this happen. Now that it had happend two days in a row and nothing is showing up why besides panic attack. They have looked through medicine, through ct scans, xray, ekg, and have talked with everyone they can. Tomorrow a specialist will be coming in the morning to talk to Ryan. One of my pastors will be in tonight. Our Chaplin of the Regiment will be in Tuesday to talk to him. Hoping this helps. Along with prayers and the good Lord fighting with him. And doctors looking further into what has happened the last two days.”

Continued prayers from Kansas.  It's heart wrenching to read this but I'm thankful for this family and appreciate every detail we can get so we can fight and pray along side them.

Update...
Surgery went well. AMEN TO NO DEAD muscle or fat and no PUSS !! Praise God!! They put fake skin on his side area to see if his body would tolerate it. They also had to staple his side area . That pain is hard on Ryan. They had to up his dosage for pain medication. His kidney levels are still going up. But not to the point where they putting him back on crt. They believe by tonight he will be. He has gained a lot of fluid in body since surgery. His lungs are not very good but he still has his chest tube in so that is helping him.
His white count has gone up a little bit and he needed blood products in surgery today. They were going to give him some in the am but he was going in for surgery. His mind on these pain meds are something else. Got to love him. Thinking someone is going to take his kidneys. Saying he was in germany in a bag with a German lady with a bunch of liquid. Just a bunch. He had been drinking good and keeping those fluids down.
Regina Dyess came in tonight and he looked at her and said I love you regina. He had a great talk with Erik Alfsen and Greg tonight too.
Please continue to pray for him and his needs. Along with surgery on Friday. Thank you all.

Pray and pray ?????? surgery Friday.
So he had a pretty stable okay day. Only had one panic attack today. His white count went down. His red count has been good since he got blood products in the OR the other day. This morning he didnt look very good. He has had his dialysis stopped since surgery yesterday morning. His numbers kept going up so they put him back on crrt dialysis. Which is good cause he was not looking good this am. He aspirated this afternoon on yogurt. So they stopped him eating/drinking and only giving him tube feeds. He had a panic attack this afternoon after his aspiration but he was able to control it. His pain has calmed down but he is on a good amount of medication. Hopefully friday during surgery they can switch to lidocaine. To get rid of some of his pain medications.
His lungs this morning are looking better. They will continue to keep chest tube in till end of week. He is at least hacking up all the "Afghanistan ****" as he says. After he aspirated his lungs got worse. He is working with it though.
He called me "chatty kathy and Nancy nurse" today so he still has his sense of humor.
Knox man had a great day at Zion. So proud of him. Love him so much. Thank you to all who love him!!

My son coughs alot from the air.   He gets tired of me asking him if he is sick.   I believe the coughing is the result of breathing in all that toxic air in Afghanistan.

Update from Sunday night 9/15/19

“Update.. pretty good day. Pray and pray they are working.
They got him in a chair and wheeled him around the floor again. Again being that he doesn't have a right pelvic or right hip it's very difficult. He was in a lot of pain so he couldn't make it 2 full hours. He tired his best.
His left lung is not great on xray still but has a little break in it with clearness on the top. His chest tube is still in and getting rid of fluid. He is still on breathing treatments and will continue to do that.
His kidneys are still trying to get back on track. He is on CRRT now. He did have a 12 hour break today and back on it tonight.
Great news from Doctor today. He should be out of ICU BY FRIDAY OR the following MONDAY. As long as the surgery Tuesday goes good!!

He should still be out of ICU Friday or next week. As long as the surgery Tomorrow goes good!!
