Just curious if many people have done the tie back surgery on their barrel

horse? Any pros or cons you have experienced ? How long was recovery ? Did you notice a big difference after ? TIA

Bump. I certainly have not, but would be interested in thoughts in opinions!

If you do a search, I believe there was a thread not too long about this.

I know several horses that have had it done and they are so much better because they can breathe. I have a horse that just had the surgery and I cant wait to see the difference. My vet said 90 days off and confined to recover. She will also need to eat off the ground from now on.

I’ve ridden a few horses that have had it done. They’ve gotten along fine.

i have a customer’s horse here with a lazy flapper that will have tie back surgery this fall.

recovery time is about 90 days. I would do it if your horse needs it. I would only use a vet that does this surgery often.

if they can’t breath and you want to compete on them, they need the surgery.
