Location: Kentucky | Hi there, My husband and I are considering moving to Lexington, KY or Birmingham, AL in the next year for his job. I am wondering what the barrel racing/rodeo scene is like in these areas? I am hoping for a good mix of smaller races and higher added $ races close by or within a couple hours driving. Thanks! |

| Not sure about the barrel racing scene in particular, but I just got back from an internship in Lexington and I was IN LOVE with how the town revolved around horses. Truly something special! |

| I live in Ky & love it! We barrel race all year long & have some small barrel races for tune ups & the babies. We also have some that have some good money added. We have indoor & outdoor pens. We run in Indiana, Tn, & Ohio. |

Location: Pelham, TN | Birmingham, AL is centrally located and there are several indoor arenas that are not too far. Lexington, KY is beautiful but I really do not know much about the barrel racing locations close by. Check with Chuck Givens on FB he lives in that area and would be glad to help you. |

Location: Alabama | I live just outside of Birmingham. There are several good races around. You can usually go to a barrel race within two hours most weekends. |

Location: Kentucky | I'm in western Ky. We have races most weekends. I know around Liberty they have pretty big shows. A good winter series to go to is in Powdery Ky, AKA Greenville. Would be a good place to go from Lexington. I just about moved to Lexington for a job. Was hired. Was looking for a place to rent and board when a local agency called. Lexington is a very cool place! |

| I can't speak to KY's scene but I'm not a huge fan of barrel racing anywhere in Alabama. I actually quit barrel racing for a while because every race I'd go to was more drama than a small town high school. I've been back on the scene a few months now and I've been to races in north, central, and south AL... and Georgia. I've decided if I join an NBHA district I'll be joining one in Georgia. It's worth it to me to make a longer drive to get to run for people who know how to run a show efficiently, work the dirt so it's not dangerous, and mind their own business rather than trying to cut everyone else down all the time. Just my 2-cents.
