For those who feed sunflower seeds, where do you get them and how much do you feed your horses a day?  Are these the same sunflower seeds people feed to their birds?? [I know, i am out of the loop! LOL] Thank u!!

I don't feed them but I've seen Shaefer brand recommended on previous threads. You can buy 50lb bags.

I use to feed the black oil sunflower seeds, I would buy the 20lb bags from walmart.

I feed hearts only. I get the 20lb bag in the bird food section of Southern States. I feed a 2oz scoop to everyone, and one horse gets 2 - 2oz scoops per day. I am using this to offset the high cal:phos ratio of my alfalfa hay.
