One of my mares, who is a naturally nervous mare, has constant soft stool. Not like a cow patty but more of a soft dropping with some liquid. With winter upon us, it is getting all over her blanket and some on her rear end and tail. I have wormed her and recently treated for ulcers. She gets grass alfalfa mix, Running Horse Feeds Prime and Exceed 6 Way. My vet does not seem concerned but we just have large animal vets around here not actual equine vets. Is there something I am missing? Is this a common thing in more nervous horses? Can loose stool hurt her skin or tail if it sticks to it too long? Thoughts on getting a catslick so she doesn’t get anything in there to cause infection? Thanks in advance!

I have a gelding like this - he is ulcer prone. Gets just loose enough stool to get his tail gross. When I am hauling him or stalling at events it is more loose than at home. I keep him on GastroPlex and it helps him incredibly. The Exceed 6-Way you are feeding offers gastric support, but you may need the higher levels of active ingredients in the GastroPlex, for more targeted gut support.
that sounds like one of mine..... i tried probios and forco - didn't help. I'm trying BioEz now but i'm not seeing a big change. his tail is still dirty and that drives me nuts!
