I'm on the wrong people's friends list for sure. I didn't know until this morning. I'm VERY happy we still have Dave in our presence!  I'm very glad you're on the mend.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.  It WAS a surprise to me as well.  I have not suffered many "sick days" in life, so suffering a heart attack was a stunner.  Luckily my wife never left my side, (except to take my horse for me), and I'm convinced, saved my life with her quick thinking while we anxiously waited for the ambulance and I took the baby aspirins she had found in the house.  (that was later confirmed by EMS to quite likely have saved my narly biscuits)

Anyway . . . . it's truly amazing what they can do now.  Surgery one day, home the next . . . for a 100% blocked artery I consider myself fortunate to be breathing much less active.  And I got to see my son and daughter!!!!  Great weekend.

Gail said no more going fast for you. I offered to send a roll of quarters so you can ride the horse at the grocery store.

Many continued hugs and prayers. I’m so glad you’re still here! Don’t ever do that again, ok???

Dave and Gail, I work for the American Heart Association. If you want to private message me the name of your town, I'd be happy to connect you with your local AHA office. They can help with resources, local doctors, etc. Lots of opportunities to meet other survivors, too, as well as support for the family members.

So happy to hear you came out of this stronger than before. Many prayers for you both!

The progess made in heart disease treatment is amazing.  My dad died so young so many years ago and I'm 100% sure that had these methods been in play he would have lived another 20 years.  The doctors of that era just gave up on him.

I remember when I had a gall bladder attack and the doctors thought it might be a heart attack.  Nurses were feeding me baby aspirin and I had no idea why.  Happy you're good to go Dave.

Sorry to hear this, Dave.  I went through the same thing 9 years ago - heart attack while I was riding my horse.  Was able to get off the horse and did take an aspirin, also, then went to the local hospital, lifeflighted to a larger hospital, had a heart cath, 1 stent for a 100% blocked LAD artery.  Sound familiar?  All I can say is that God was looking out for me and in 9 years since, I have always, always taken my anticoagulation and high cholesterol medication and kept up my doctor visits and had no more problems.  Here is wishing you well!

I'm overwhelmed!  Thank you all.  My wife is indeed my hero, in more ways than most know.  And yes she continues to monitor my every step one week later.  Even saddling her horse for her, which I often do, is strictly foreboden.  I can't even clean out the kitty litter.  (but it's clean now)  hehehehe

Now, if I could just stop winter from overwhelming us!
