| I might have the opportunity to attend a Stevi and Ty Hillman barrel clinic. I tried finding info or anything on her clinics, but have had zero luck. Was just wondering if any one has attended them and how they were? What to expect? I’m new to barrel racing, and just have a young horse so was trying to decide if it is worth attending with my horse, or just going to audit. Thanks! |

GO! I have never personally rode with Stevi, but I can't think of a reason not to go! Shes a hand and has experience in every part of the industry. You can learn something, guarentee! Go listen, have fun and learn! |

| That’s kind of what I was thinking.. I want to go without a horse for sure, it was just whether to take my mare or not. I guess when I said she’s young I should have clarified that she’s just barely started on barrels. By the time the clinic would be she’ll have about 30-45 days on the pattern give or take. She’s already trotting them and has done some loping drills around barrels (I need to move her in Dec as my footing is done for the winter and also my pen is too small to really set up a decent pattern where it’s not super tight between 1 & 2). I was kind of thinking maybe it’d be helpful in me getting her started correctly since she won’t be far enough along that it’d be hard to change things if needed, but also didn’t want to bring her if her clinics were more geared toward finished horses and riders. So was curious. |

Location: Illinois | I would go if it's somehting you want to do. I personally have never taken a finished horse to a clinic, except one time with Ron Ralls because we were allowed to bring 2. I've always taken ones not finished on the pattern. Last time I took my mare who was just trotting the pattern, still got a lot out of it for her. |

You should ask the host of the clinic... when I do my own workshops, I have a beginner clinic more geared towards actual colts or beginner barrel racers, then have an advanced workshop for finished horses needing fixing, riders needing more help, etc... I try to never take a finished horse to a clinic, I like riding my colts in the clinics. Find out what Stevi agenda is more geared towards and then you can decide. But I think it will benefit to take your colt either way! |
