| until I can get a lameness exam I want to put my gelding on something to help his hock. I noticed he was off when I rode him the other day. After our ride, I felt his hocks and there was a little heat in one. I looked up Buteless but it says don't feed to horse with ulcers or ulcer prone, so thats out. When I can get to town I'm getting him looked at by the vet. Hoping within the next few weeks. ***see update in the reply below***

Location: Opelousas, LA | I have never used the Stride Rewind for horses so I can't say for sure, but the human version darn sure works! I am going to put a few of my racehorses on Rewind after feeling how well it worked for me. I had been on the NRF2 and NRF1 which helped quite a bit but I really couldn't justify the cost for just me and I haven't been able to afford it for the last few months. My horses ran really good the month of October on a few other Stride products so I figured I would try the Rewind and I'm so happy I did. I am not pain free but the difference, especially when I first wake up, is more than enough to justify the cost even if I have to stay on the loading dose. I don't sell this stuff and the company doesn't know me from Adam so I'm just sharing to help. Code MWH will save you 5% which pretty much just covers tax but every little bit helps! |

Personally, if I were you, I would save my money for the vet trip and not buy any supplements until you know what you are dealing with. I do like giving my horses a good all-around supplement with joint support, but in my opinion it won't replace things (such as) if your horse needs a joint injection. If he was noticeably off while riding, and there was heat felt afterward, I'd just leave him be until you can get him looked at. But....... I like to feed mine T.H.E. Muscle Mass custom blend with joint support. |

Which one do you recommend? Is there any good ones cheaper than adequan? |

| ok finally an update i got him xrayed, found a still-attached bone chip/spur on the hock. so that is what's causing the heat, and lameness - not keeping his lead etc. the other joints look good, good shape for his age. (19) so we decided on a dose of Legend to start. see how he feels. Since we are 2 hrs from town, switch him over to an IM so I can do that myself. they suggested polyglycan. He mentioned bute before I ride but I told him, my horse had a sensitive stomach so not sure that is such a good idea. I've always been a supplement fan, but with this horse I couldn't find what worked - now I know why. He said for this situation feed-through isn't going to do much. So not sure I should even try, but I want to hear what others think. So far its just a wait and see what works he said, every horse/situation is different. But I'm sure there is something out there that may decrease inflammation/pain, that is natrual and safe for a sensitive tummy and reasonably priced? but any ideas? |

Location: Illinois | I would just use some type of injectible, it's probably going to give you the biggest bang for your buck and is generally better absorbed. Then just put something topical on daily like Draw it Out, to help with inflammation. You could try MVP Ecxeed, not sure what your budget is though. Its got high powered joint coverage plus gastric coverage. My 21 year old has 3-4 bone spurs in each hock and knee bt he does fine. I also directly inject his hocks yearly because he has dry joints. They tend to wear off late fall & then I just give him 4-5 months off because I don't like the cold. I don't have to inject again until I start riding again

| Ok. I do have draw it out. I like that it’s doesn’t smell or feel cooling. He is a sensitive horse and even putting the Freedom spot on drops he is all goosey. Right now I give him regular platinum. but if it doesn’t seem to do much I’ll switch him to something else. I try to keep the total under $3 a day for him- but it’s hard because he has so many issues. Ugh! Between joints and spells of diarrhea, poor coat and hooves. He’s a hot mess lol I am hoping just the platinum and the injections might straighten out most of his problems. I tried THE performance and I didn’t notice any change. I kept him on it for 80 days then I gave up on it. |

Married With Horses Podcast, has several shows on Leaky Gut, with good info. Your horse, might benefit from the Stride Animal Health 21 Day Hindgut Treatment, it is a good product. Diarrhea is a one symptom of Hindgut issues. Hope you can get your boy feeling better! |

I read about that on here. But after I read that picky eaters don't like it I was afraid to try it. |

My gelding did not want to eat it at first, so I gave him 1/4 amount to start, and gradually increased it. Within 5 days he was eating it good. I mixed it into his soaked beet pulp. |

| I do not think Tumeric effects stomach. I have a hot ulcers horse who had gate issues. After being on Tumeric his disposition is awesome. Goes in the gate and fires! |

Location: Illinois | The NRF2 pills are mostly just turmeric with a couple other herbs and people use that to treat ulcers. I take turmeric daily and have ulcer/acid issues myself and it doesn't bother that |

| I wonder if nrf2 would be helpful in this situation?
I rode him Monday and Tuesday. Monday he seemed fresher and yesterday back to stiff, walk only. Swished his tail when I tried to trot :'( I'm guessing the legend peaked on Sunday Monday and dropped off by yesterday? im calling the vets this morning to see what the next plan of action is. I'll find out if they still want to try polyglycan. I did a bunch of reading online and cbd sounds like a good thing to try in addition to the poly maybe. I was reading turmeric is anti-inflammatory and stride rewind- I'm just not sure about feeding mussel shells to my horse LOL. Maybe try OE game changer? |
