Lisa looked pretty cool on that black horse.  Hailey will bounce back tonight (speculation).

She rode Cutter (Prime Diamond), he was definetely looking around too last night. IMAGINE what he will do as his confidence gains. Wowza, I would like to see Lisa win the world. Thats all I want LOL. 

I think Hailey will come back strong tonight. She barely caught that first. 

Not use to seeing her on a Black, so use to seeing her on Louie at the NFR, she sure did ride like she was on fire..

I am hoping my South Texas girl takes it tonight. But I really love Emily's Chongo, too. Are Brittany's horses home breads? 

Would love to see Hailey win the title again, but oh my goodness Lisa is not that far behind her..  

I was shocked to see Lisa on something other than Louie or Rosa, but man that horse worked awesome! I'm rooting for Lisa to win the world this year. It's her time!

Oh yeah, that was quite the turn!!! I see them doing some damage the next few weeks. 

I was pleased to see Stevi and Sharpie turn in a good run. They struggled last time together and she seems to genuine and he is always a favorite of mine. 

It was really exciting! I bet it is a super close race to the title. 

I love stout horses so the calf roping horses always catch my eye and I love them.........but dang there are totally awesome barrel horses in this NFR.

I'm going tr be rooting for Lacinda and Real Deal.  He is a home raised horse that works two events, Heading and Barrels.  You could tell they both had a few jitters last night, I look for him to come back strong from now on.

Remember that arena is a basketball court for the university!  Consistency is what will win it. Lisa is known for being consistent. Don't count out Nellie Miller. Her family raised her horse and she can sneak up on you and bite you in the butt. 

They still clocked with that mistakes last night!!!! I am excited to see what they'll do when they catch the first!

I hope it holds up for all ten rounds!  I would love to see Lisa win the world!!  I look for Nellie to win the average, that mare of hers is SO consistant in that pen! I think Hailey will be the one that runs another fast arena time...Stevie & Shali will also lay down some smok'n runs!!  Woohoo love it all!!

I would LOVE Lisa to win the world - she's been so close so many times!  I've been impressed with Cutter's performance this year and with Rosa and Louie, she definately has the horsepower.   But Jennie Sharp is a local girl and I would be so excited for her to bring home the world title!!! So I'm torn between the two - But I cheer equally loud for ALL the girls from my recliner!!!

Was it just me or did Lisa and Cutter make a bobble coming out of the 3rd?  And they were that fast with a bobble?  DANG!  That was impressive.  You aren't supposed to be able to make one mistake and place in that tough crowd.  She did!  GO, LISA!  

Cutter looked like he lost his hind end a little going into the 2nd but man he was flying across that pen. HIs turns seemed a little slower but he could change gears in those straight aways! Look out if his turns get snappy with his speed. Several horses seemed to have some opening round jitteers running in that atmosphere. So hard the first time to pick up those barrels when they come so fast at you. And the camera pit behind the first barrel always seems to get a few of them the first couple of rounds until they get used to it. 

I think it would be a whole different game if that first barrel was not a blind barrel coming out of the ally way.

He's been making some big wins this year, like the Ram National Circuit Finals. For a while he was all she had while both Louie & Rosa were out earlier this year. Not many people are that aware of him yet, people have kind of been sleeping on him. He's got a phenomenal career ahead of him. I hope he gets to come out for several rounds & really gets some strong recognition

I believe I saw that Copper Springs Ranch is offering a $100,000 incentive if someone wins the NFR Average on a horse sired by one of the CSR studs, and Cutter is by their stud Prime Talent. Maybe that's another factor that Lisa considered when getting on him? Don't get me wrong, from what I've seen of him, he is phenomenal and freaky fast. I don't think she could go wrong running any one of her horses there.

It was strange seeing Lisa on something other than a buckskin!  I feel like Lisa is one of the BEST barrel racers ever without a world championship!  Hope this is her year!!

I thought so but wasn't sure. It would really cool if she won on a home bred. That was always so special to us when the kids showed heifers. Winning with a home bred is the sweetest. 

I just wish that the NFR would come on a little earlier, by the time barrels and bulls come on I'm having a hard time keeping my eyes open, they come on when its past my bedtime Sometimes I have to give up watching the bull riding..I just cant do it sometimes

I saw too that CSR will reward $100K to the average winner riding one of their stallions.  I wonder if you need to be on that horse all 10 rounds?

This was really scary to watch last night {round 2} of Hunter Cure {steer wrestler}

Yes mam that could have been catastrophic.  Thank goodness no one/nothing was hurt.   Hunter was determined to not let that steer go!  And it motivated him for tonight's run. 

There is a show that comes on AFTER the rodeo on theRFD channel called NFR Tonight. It is pretty funny. That is how I have to watch the NFR but it is on youtube the next day at a decent time. The steer wrestler that had a mess up the first night but still threw his steer said it was hard to be cool when the steer is blowing snot in your face and dragging your arse all over the arena. It is really worth watching for the entertainment!  Fortunately someone does get the barrel racing up on youtube by morning

Donnie Gay is on it and hes so fun to watch, Its so past my bed time when it comes on,I did watch a little bit of it last night and those guys were having so much fun, I finally gave up and went to bed. 

Emily Miller sure is making some noise - I feel like she is the dark horse. I'm still rooting for Lisa but Emily has really done so well. I wasnt super familiar with her but watching some interviews she seems like such a nice girl! 

What is the background on Chongo?  I heard an interview where she mentioned taking a little while to get with him.  Who started him, etc?

I think I remember watching his sire run his futurity year at Ft Smith and make the short round.

Did I miss the post of all the NFR horses being taken and their bloodlines?  I know it has been done in the past but don't recall seeing it this year.

That is certainly a tough group of barrel racers. Being consistent will win you way more money than a horse that runs top times a couple of times a year. All those horses are so solid. Rmrber I am having to watch the barrel race on YouTube the next day but it certainly looks like the fastest times are the first ones to run. Looks like the ground gets really shifty after the first five or six. 

I'm sure am missing watching Wade Sundell and Cody deMoss in the saddle bronc and Will Lowe in the bareback, they are alot of fun to watch..

But the Wright boys are just as fun too, alot of great riders in all the events.

I was happy to see that wade is recovering ok.Its been a long road for him.I liked watching him ride.

I think the last couple of nights the ground did get trashy..

He just seems like a really good ole boy..

The whole 15 are worthy of winning the title, but my personal favorite is Jessica Routier.  She'sa true blue person and is riding a horse owned by Gary Westergren (owner of Firewater Frenchman) who is the nicest guy in the world. Plus, she hauls her 3 littlest girls with her...like 3 & 4 years old, while her two oldest are at home going to school.  Additionally, she's got futurity colts she's hauling for next year.  Lisa is, of course,  high on my list as she is a lovely person who has paid her dues.  Pretty cool to see her on Cutter proving that she's able to train and jockey horses with vastly different styles.  No matter what happens, its a great time of year for barrel racing!

What are you typing into youtube? I dont have TV and miss the watching the NFR. Maybe I can at least watch the barrel racing....

Thank you for this, I missed the barrel race last night, I closed my eyes to rest while waiting for the girls and when I open them we were at the end of bulls, oh my gosh I was just to sleepy to stay up,, So darn excited for Dona Kay and Valor, that lady is on fire!!!!!!

I have spent enough to pay for a trip to Las Vegas and still don't have it. I was able to get the football games on CBS SPORTS until the NFR came on now I can't get them either. Couldn't care less about football!

What is the horse Stevie Hillman has been on? That horse acted like something was going on with the bit, or I thought so.
Where is Truck. I know he got hurt last year, but she mainly ran him all season, didn't she? 

She left Truck home because of the alley. She has a video on her facebook introducing them all but I believe she said she ran "Perfecto." All cowbred gelding.  Truck was her main mount for the year and another gelding Sherlock, we havent seen him yet.

Not bashing but Stevi seems to struggle in the T&M. ETA: Shes been on 3 horses thus far. Perfecto the last 2 nights, a new mare of hers the night before (Millie maybe? ) and Sharpie before that. 

I love Stevie but I wish she would tie her right hand to her saddle horn.  I know that she knows better and its just a habit but man its costing her so much $$.  I can only imagine the pressure and nerves and habits are hard to break.  Good luck to her tonight I hope she can mentallly get through it.  

I'd like to see her get on Sherlock. She ran him a fair amount and I think it may help to get on something more familiar to get her confidence back. All the horses she has are incredible, so much money she is missing out on because they can be in the money every round! 

I missed that video, I'll have to go watch it. 

I really like perfecto that she's ran the last couple nights, hopefully she can get some money won these last few rounds. 

I really like Sharpie, I wonder if she'll pull him out again.

She has some incredible horse power thats for sure! I like all of them, the video also shows that Sharpie bit Millie's ear tip off on their way there. Kind of humerous the way she talks about it but what a shyster.

Slightly off topic but can they get rid of Tuff for next year, I told my dad last night I feel like I need to watch the bull riding on mute. 

I also say they need to get Amy Wilson to do the round winner interviews, she'd do a great job!

I wish they had a "barrel racer" commentator like they did the one year, Butch Knowles just drives me nuts!!

I've been watching Emilie Miller's horse every night - since the first run he has always shook his head a little on the backside of the third barrel but last night I felt like he was telling her he is done... does anyone else think he might be hurting? I hope not but I felt like he wanted to try but just couldn't anymore.

I agree!  He may be a really nice guy and certainly knows  this event, but jeepers, he's sure not a TV Commentator!  Though I prefer his voice to the nasal whine of Donny Gay.  And I think Steven Peebles is also probably a knowledgeable and nice guy but I am REALl tired of hearing:  "He's really taking it to 'em."  and "This is a great horse" (apparently they ALL are.  Trying to be positive, I dearly love the main two guys and Joe Beaver!  

I agree about Steven Peebles, "he's really taking it to him" that's another one he's saying all the time.

I didn't mind Donnie Gay, he's more personable for sure. 

The lady they have doing the round winner interviews asks the same questions. They don't give her much time but get a little creative. 

I don't think they dare get a barrel racing commentator, wasn't it a few years ago they had someone, Charmayne James maybe, and she ****ed a bunch of them off?? I could be wrong, I think Danyelle Campbell does a good job when she's done the American. 

I believe it was Charmayne...she gave too many of her own opinions I think is what ****ed people off, lol!! 

I did notice that she switched to a tie down last night vs bonnet. I wonder if that played a factor. 

A good friend of mines horse has always done something similar off 3rd, he has been vetted to the 9s and he still clocks with that bobble. Not sure why she switched headgear but I bet she switches back. The horses that can do that and clock blow me away! 

I didn't even notice the switch to the tie town - I was wondering what he would do without the bonnet only because he does shake his head every run. Obviously this is all just pure curiosity and she knows best 100% but I have to wonder... I am the kind of person who it would drive nuts if my horse did that even if he clocked because I am OCD lol. I am rooting for them and hope he isn't sore or something!

This is a great Rodeo as it is every year, some of the Commentators came be a bit annoying sometimes but I just overlook them, they are loving this job and I would hate for someone to take that away from them, Donnie Gay was crushed when he got fired I dont know why he was fired, I really did enjoy him..

I just wonder how the gate man is doing after that big hit from the gate he took during the bareback bronc's last night, does anybody know how hes doing? The gate hit him really hard and he took another man down with him when it happen.

I had a horse whom was very active with his head when he struggled with ground he flung it around to keep him upright if the ground was not something he could get into well. 

I feel like he might be sore now after lastnight but it's more the ground causing it than him being ran sore. 

I'm not one to coment on ground but if your not in the top 5 to run this year you might as well not even bother it seems like. I feel soooo bad for he girls and thier horses. 

Donnie got fired???? What???? Granted Tuff has improved since the first round but Donnie was AWESOME!!! We need to start a Bring Back Donnie campaign!!!! And actually Butch has improved some for barrels over the years and as crank as us  barrel racers are I can see why they don't bring in anyone for barrels, kind of like ground, its never good enough,

BIG change next year ....... Since the Cowboy Channel has the rights to the WNFR for the next SIX years.......hopefully, they will have more of the "old" guard announcers ...... They have a full schedule of the pre and post shows this year with Flint, Randy, Donnie, Joe, Justin, etc ....... They will also be telecasting 18 of next years PRCA rodeo.

Excited to watch Louie! I hope she is top of the ground, but it did seem to hold a lot better last night! I really liked Emilie Miller's second horse too! I was impressed with how good he ran for his first run there. 

I just upped my Xfinity package last year to be able to watch and now I won't be able to watch at all. Seems silly to cut off all their cable viewers like that, I would think that would cut viewers by a lot

Deb Mohon's horse Brown ran in EVERY performance at eleven National Finals. That makes 110. He was given to Deb by a race trainer because he was foundered. Good shoeing and good vet care are what kept him running. He was put down about the age of 22 because of complications of founder. Registered name was Special Agreement

Glad to see Stevi Hillman win a round. She has had a very good week. She said there had been a death in family and you could tell she was upset. Maybe things will turn around for her. You have to remember these girls didn't get here by hitting barrels and this arena is more than a little challenging.

Sad to see Lisa go away another year without a world title!   I felt with her experience and the talented horses she would get her a world title.  Next year?
