My Bluebonnet dealer is going to quit carrying their products as Bluebonnet has apparantely increased their prices again, so I'm trying to figure out which direction to go.  I switched to BB Total Advantage from Nutrena SafeChoice and had great luck, so I'm dissappointed to be in this situation, but it is what it is!  If you couldnt feed Bluebonnet, what would you feed?  I have everything from a 30 year old pasture pet with very limited ability to chew (currently on Purina Senior, alfalfa cubes, Renew Gold and Forco), to a 4 year old in training.  I travel a lot for work and my folks thankfully help with chores while I'm gone, so simplicity is important to me - I'm not looking for a pound of this, cup of that, scoop of who-knows-what.  I would like something a little higher in fat and low NSC.  Ideas?  Experience with Bluebonnet vs. other grains??

I'm a BlueBonnet person have been for over 25 years, befor BlueBonnet I used Purina and really like this company, so if Bluebonnet was not available anywhere close to me I would go back to useing Purina, they have been around so long and have great feed/products. 

Edited to add" I'm surpise that your Bluebonnet dealer wont be selling BlueBonnet feed/products because of a price increase,  prices in everything including in all other brands of feed do go up.. So are they closing the whole store down?

Bluebonnet is hard to get here in WY. I can go about 3 hrs and get it, but they don't always carry what I need and are even hard to get to answer the phone sometimes so...I just found out you can order it on Chewy.com and get a discount if you are on their autosend program. It is maybe a $1 more than I was paying so I signed up and just got my first 2 bags today via Fed ex. Just an idea

That's weird they are telling you there has been a price increase?  I'm a dealer and haven't had a increase since October of last year. Now I was told at some point this year we will have a increase, because of the price of proteins have gone up. And it will be all feed companies that will have to increase prices. 
But I would definitely be heart broken to have to switch to something else. I feed Total Advantage and love it. You can look at Chewy. They have started selling it through there for people that don't have dealers near them. 

Bluebonnet is not in m area, so I'm not familiar with it.  Which feed would be recommended for an 18 year old, picky, performance horse?  Her main forage is alfalfa with some grass hay so she always has something in front of her, and she's out on pasture, even though it's pretty dismal this time of year.

I'd say either the bluebonnet omega force or the total advantage or intensify pelleted feed. I always like the omega force for the low feeding rate.. 4lbs a day is all it took for my horse to maintain. Really any of their feeds are ideal for performance horses. One thing I always appreciated with BB is their safety, I never once found a foreign peice of anything or stray peice of corn or milo in my feed bags. It's an extremely clean grain. 

I'm fairly certain you and I have the same BB dealer who is closing.  

I went ahead and ordered through Chewy this past week. With the 30% off and free shipping, the final cost ended up being with in a dollar a bag of what we were paying.  

It's an option.  If you don't want to order online, Purina Ultium is fairly close to several BB feeds.  I fed it before finding BB and my horses did well. TSC carries it. 

I would Highly recomend putting her on the Intensify Sr Therapy. i put a lot of horses ranging from 5-35 on it. It is soft and very easily digestiable and a lower NSC.

Or you could go with intensify Total Advantage. it also has a low NSC, high in fiber like the sr, but has a higher fat. But the pellets are a hard pellet compared to the soft pellet of Sr.

Depending on where in Oregon you are, there is actually a BB dealer in McMinnville. She is a barrel racer so she does end up going to some races in the Portland area. She's who I get it through. PM me for her contact info if you'd like it!!

I just ordered BB from chewy as well so I can finally try it all the way out here in CA. Bought 2 bags omega force and look forward to trying it. For those that have used Chewy do they carry fresh feed? Where is the date printed on a BB bag? Thanks !

Everything I've ever gotten from chewy has been absolutely fresh! Zero complaints from me. I get my dog food from them too. If you use bute or banamine they carry that as well. All you need is your vets approval and it's a heck of alot cheaper! 

I think the date is printed on the feed tag if I remember correctly. Anyway.. chewy hands down has the best customer service I've used, right up there with platinum performance! I needed something added to my autoship and I missed the ship by just a day, the guy had it shipped out on a rush to me so it would get here same time as my autoship at no extra charge.. very nice people... who speak clear English btw... it's not some foreign call center when you call in. I love that! 

Triple Crown Senior. 14 protein 10 fat low NSC. Added digestive enzymes ect. Super nice feed and basically same price as BB. I have fed both for years. 

Bluebonnet mills for Triple Crown, I believe.  Last I heard anyway. So you know it's a safe feed. 

depends on where you live. On west coast  there is no blue bonnet so triple crown is milled differently.

Bluebonnet isn't available in my area either. I was gonna order it off of Chewy.com but looked around before and found very comparible Tribute feed. I was looking at the Sr. Therapy so I went with the Sr. Sport through Tribute. If that is available look into it. 

I'm a dealer for BB also, I've had multiple price increases. Nothing has been crazy but when there's not much margin anyway it makes it not so much fun.

I love BB and I actually feed the Energized that doesn't have all the extra good stuff.. They do amazing on it and it's very very reasonable price wise... I do love the Intensify line but I've got 13 head to feed and I just use it for the babies and then feed Horseman's Elite Mare & Foal to the broodmares now through weaning. I do feed the Zesterra mineral to bridge the gap on the Energized Performance line of feed.

I constantly bother the BlueBonnet nutritionists. I get all my stride supplements from chewy because subscription makes it way cheaper, but I won't buy feed off there.

When I asked them here just a few days ago what their best recommendation out of the choices I have local to me would be, they recommended ProElite Grass/Alfalfa Advantage and Triple Crown products, both of which I have used in the past and loved.

Just finally got my bags from Chewy of the Omega stuff - it smells GREAT. My horses chowed down on the handfuls I gave them and they're picky brats.

I'll check the date on them tomorrow but judging by the look of the feed, it's not old by any means.
