We are working on setting the layout to enclose the back end of an existing covered arena, and we are working on dimensions for the alley. The arena is 115 x 240. Here are our current debated layout questions:

• Ideal alley width/length?
• do you prefer a permanent back wall on the alley and a side entry gate, or open alley with a gate we could close if needed? 

If you ask 5 people, you get 7 different answers, so we're taking a broad poll and finding a happy medium  any input is appreciated :)

I prefer a holding pen into a center alley over a side gate unless you have a side gate on each side and riders can choose which side to enter from.

my covered arena alley  way is 110 feet long   with 25 feet in pen before timer  then how ever long to first barrel i forget  15. sec pen  mine is 200 x 225
