Headed to Waco,  Tx next week to look at places to buy,  finally gonna leave the snow!

I realize everywhere has their own weather,  but what's the worst you've encountered?

Are there local weekend or weeknight races? All I can find are an hour or so away.

Anything else I need to know?

Thank you!

I haven't lived in that area in several years, but yes, there are more barrel races north toward DFW.  The best area I lived with around Whitney. You're right in the middle between S. FW and Waco. Lots of sandy land around there.  Avoid black dirt.

There used to be a lot of races near there when the Mcgregor arena was there. However, since that was purchased and I think torn down the nearest races will probably be 45-60 minutes away. There are 2-4 big races there in Waco at the Extraco events center each year. 2 Elite races, Texas State, ANHA, and I don't know what else. Other races will be in Belton, Taylor, Llano, Hamilton. They area all great areans with good producers- Rafter E, CTBRA, GoFast. I used to live just south of Waco in Troy. The worse weather was somewhere around 100 days over 100 one summer. It typically snows or gets icey 1-2 days per year. Nothing too bad. Rain isn't usually too bad. Once in October 2015 it was pretty bad and there were A LOT of roads closed due to flooding. It made getting from Temple up to Troy quite interesting.

Stephenville and Alvarado are close and have big barrel races frequently.  Plan on some tough competition. Forgot about Glen Rose. they have barrel races there too.
