Has any one ever had Triple Crown make one goofy?? I've got a naturally high strung 7 yr old mare that I had to switch from Bluebonnet (due to supply issues) to Triple Crown and she has been a complete basket case since! I'm certain some of it has to do with the nice weather/feeling good this time of year, but this has been excessive and she's on Senior which has a very low NSC. Just curious on others' experiences.

I haven't used Triple Crown, but had a similar experience switching between other feeds that were similar in NSC. The one I switched from didn't have any kind of molasses in it and was slightly lower in sugar & the one I switched to had molasses in it even though the sugar content was still just barely higher. Horse was bouncing off the walls. So it could be a similar situation you're having to where the TC Senior just has a bit more sugar. Idk which BB feed you were using, but you could compare them. My other 2 horses didn't change at all, but the one did. She can only be on molasses & corn free feeds. Just an idea

My gelding was put on triple crown lite as he is under stall arrest & can't have alot of feed. He is on mostly hay. I have never used triple crown until now & I have to say I am very impressed with it. Slyder is doing very well on it & likes it, even with the supplements he has to take. He is not hot at all. Once he is over this ordeal I will more than likely keep him on it or switch to another formula that triple crown makes. Also my vet said this would be a good feed for him with his situation right now.

Yes. I tried putting my tb on TC Senior to help him gain weight and it made him nuts. It isn't necessarily TC's fault though. Some horses just can't handle the sugar and carbs in grain. And even though TC generally has a lower NSC than many other feeds, it was still too high for him. He can't eat any grain really. Renew Gold is what he gets instead.

Strange, since Renew Gold is higher in NSC than TC Senior. Maybe it was the amount of feed needed since you typically feed less Renew Gold? I know that will play a role in lowering the overall NSC in the diet.
