So far where I am dine-in resaurants and bars are closed. But sub places like Jimmy Johns, Subway, etc you can still go inside and order food as usual. Just can't sit ata table and eat. Movie theaters, gyms, etc all still open. Some stores are changing hours, but its just the big chains that are doing it for all locations. A lot of small restaurants are offering carryout for now to try to stay afloat and people are trying to support them. But for the most part its life per usual. Kids were all playing in the high school stadium the other day while it was warm & sunny. Parents were sitting on the bleachers watching. All the little old ladies in my neighborhood are still doing their evening walks. Tons of people out running in the nicer weather. Not much has changed here in BFE Illinois |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I hope n pray it does not come to this as in closing the big factors, so scary. I worry about our feed mills and worry about BlueBonnet shutting down for a few weeks, if it does come to this I hope we at least get a warning. So many people live from pay check to pay check and this is putting a big hurt on them, all my favorite eating places are shutting down, I hope they can stay in business after this since they are private own. Just a horrible time for us all, Pray for our Country |

Location: Displaced Iowegian | Here in AR, we were at 22 cases yesterday morning and have jumped to 62 cases ...... of course, the more testing, the more cases will be reported. Fortunately....no deaths. Our restaurants have closed down and are doing curbside, drive thru or carry out. Movie theatres, community centers, aquatic centers, etc are closed and have been for a week. They, of course, have closed the schools and the Governor made the announcement today that they would now be closed until April 17th. I haven't heard of any of the factories shutting down but that they are all taking more safety measures. |

Location: North of the 49th Parallel | Today's numbers- 1 death, 27 more cases here in Alberta, 146 total. From what I understand- we are the third highest in testing per capita around the world. Testing approx 1600 people a day. I would say pretty much everything is shut down here- gyms, schools (indefinitely), most big box stores are closed, 90% of people who can work remotely are.

| Goodness!!!! 1600 people a day!!! We were lucky to get 30 test kits in our hospital as of yesterday anyways. We did test four yesterday while I was there and only after every other possible exam came back negative and there was no explanation. It's a stringent testing guideline and it really makes the numbers flawed at the end of the day. |

Some of the hills we ride on horses I worry about my retired horses getting hurt on the trail. I do have a different perspective on some of you because of where you live. I had never been out west till last year we went the 100th Cody WY Rodeo, Yellowstone, Badlands, Crazy Horse. I don't really want to trailer my horse that far I worried enough driving in a pretty new motor home. I kept thinking if my stagecoach breaks down out here in the middle on nowhere, what will I do? Imagining settlers doing it in an actual stage coach was enough. I just thought I lived in the country. ETA: I meant this above for vjls Only stayed 2 nights was going back in October, Saloon was cool good food it was a little chilly. i am a quad and 69 i went white water but i have to hve someone with me so its out. but you ought to joing the facebook page of trailriders omy its fantastic but on a different note a now according to a reporter this is really out of hand such nonsense A reporter for One America News Network asked President Trump if he thought the term "Chinese food" was racist during a line of questioning centering on the president's use of the phrase "China virus" to describe the coronavirus. Chanel Rion, OANN's White House correspondent, asked the question of the president during Thursday's White House Coronavirus Task Force briefing. Rion, who spent part of her childhood living in South Korea, asked, "Do you consider the term 'Chinese food' racist because it's food that originates in China?" "No," the president answered before she finished the question. "I don’t think it’s racist at all." just to me how silly thing are |

It's not that I don't care, I'm doing my part. I just don't think it's going to change anything if I haunt the internet daily obsessing about it. | The troops are getting restless here. Tempers are shorter than usual in the office... My husband and I are still working. We have minimal people here at work this week. Its a known fact most are using this as an excuse to stay home. My husband has no choice but to go in. And they are about to make is 12hr shifts 7 days a week instead of 8-5 m-f for supervisors. All because a bunch of rich retirees are freaking out. Yeah cuz having more management on site will keep a virus away? Just stupid BS that I am so tired of. Add in horrible weather and I am about to go stir crazy. Its been a rough week. And to add complete insult to injury, I backed into a gate this morning like a damb@ss..... A gate that SHOULD have been open but the paranoid as heck renter up front decides to close it, knowing that others leave for work in the mornings. Dark gate + no lights in that area = hard to see at 6am.... Oh AND I started today..... Its a GREAT DAY! I want a margarita and to go run my mare. Thats it. |

I'm famous for being from the party of death but I hate to kill my old retired show horses I have finally got out on pasture. I brought them in last night because of the storm and overnight my pasture has turned really green. I had them staying out all the time, they have barn they will never go in even in bad weather. One is 24 and was navicular when I bought him at 8, doing great barefoot and out, the other is 16 with breathing problems. Any thoughts appreciated? I was one of those mean people who kept my horses in stalls all the time for years.

Spring grass is laoded with sugar, I have to be very careful of one of my geldings and a pony so they only get to go out for a very short time about once a week, my gelding is IR and the pony founder a few years back and that spring grass will set off the IR and Founder. So they have underlying issues that the grass will set off. I would load your horses up with hay befor I turn them out so they wont eat a whole lot of grass for now untill this new grass gets older and wont produce as much the sugar. |

Location: My happy place | Thank you I know all those things and knew it was coming but it just turned way too green overnight. Is it bad to wish for some horseflies because they will make them go get in the barn off the grass? I have been feeding them hay and oats while out in the field it didn't even look that green till now. As much as I love Spring this will keep me busy. Thankfully I have a mud lot too. I have picked stalls and fed horses for 55 years. I'm sort of over the stall part. |

I posted a youtube webcast about a week ago with great information from a doctor. What I remember from what he said is plastic/metal/wood/hard surfaces i.e doors and doorknobs, etc... are the worst for retaining germs. Paper, cardboard etc.. not so much. It must absorb into the porus surface. The virus doesn't do well in higher temps. That's why they (Trump) has said from the beginning the spring and summer temps will go a long ways towards helping us through this. There is way too much hysteria and not enough facts out there. I try not to read all the hype. Stress will make you sick too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkOdpYvK6OQ |

Location: My happy place | Thanks but no thanks OregonBR, I have toilet paper and have one of those coming home soon. He will wonder why I haven't got more done around here and the dreaded..... What's for supper? Then he will retire to his chair and fall asleep. My chores are sort of done everyone is fed and happy, the horses and dogs are so much easier than men. No one is coming over and I'm not going anywhere. I have friends really freaking out over this, they are also the ones who said it was all a media hoax. I have no idea what will happen, I have never seen a situation like this. My advice is prepare for the worst, expect the best. Not much anyone can do, we are all in this mess together. I think they all need watching they are going to be handing out money right and left It's our job to make sure it's going to the right places and people. IMO we can't do much else and it would be a crime if we didn't pay attention. They are on both sides. |

| Iowa is pretty boring at the moment. I'm on a 4 week hiatus from school. They are telling us that we are to supply links to practice work, but we aren't doing online learning as of yet. No new material, no graded work, and no special education services. Not sure if we go online how I'll do sped services anyways. So far I'm getting paid for the mandatory hiatus, but they'll re-evaluate at the end of the 4 weeks. My husband is still working. He sells parts for the auto industry and told me GM goes into a shutdown today. They are allowed to work if they want to though. They made it through the Strike, so they should make it through this. I have food for probably a good month. My horses have food for a good month as far a grain and supplements go and plenty of hay. I also have a new pack of TP. The entertainment industry has shut down. No movies, no restaurants, some malls and stores are closing. We do have carry out or delivery at most restaurants, including beer. I guess Walmart really will be the outside entertainment at the moment. I have some new books on my shelves and amazon prime, so I should be good to go if we go full quarantine. |

Location: Arizona | Sounds like everyone is doing the best they can considering the current situation. I'm in AZ and work in commercial construction. We are still working and still very busy, construction doesn't every stop. I currently come to our office. There are 7 of us here working (full staff, lol) and our field crews. We are working on the option of working from home. I am the only PM for the company and we currently have about 45 ongoing projects. As long as the City Inspectors are still working, we are too. My daugher's company has shut down, she's home without pay and she's 5 months pregnant. It's a bit stressful. Like everyone else, restaurants, movies, gym, schools, shopping malls, bars, are all closed. The grocery stores are slowly getting back their stock. I'm yet to find a pack of TP. I've been riding alot in between our crazy rain storms, going out in our jeep, etc..trying to stay away from people!! I sure hope this ends soon!! Stay safe friends! |

Location: Displaced Iowegian | LOL .... After living in western Kansas (years ago and miles from the nearest "big" grocery), I got in the habit of buying for the month so I have lots of gorceries, etc. stockpiled. We are retired so we don't "have" to be out and about ...... unless hubby dirves me crazy...LOL The VA is taking this seriously. John had a Dermatology check-up appt. for March 25th that I cancelled last week. They re-scheduled it for April 6th. I tried to get them to put it out further down the line....Now, today, they called and told me that due to the virus, etc, we had to re-schedule. It is now May13th .... hopefully, all will be under control by then! |

Location: My happy place | I spent a lot of time this week with my grandkids 12 & almost 16. Monday we had conversations about the virus, their parents thought media hype to on Sunday. They came home from work all concerned about it, telling the kids. The kids knew more about it than they did. They are not scared and realize just how lucky they are that we live where we live. Lots of land to play on no neighbors close and many toys to play with. I feel so sorry for those that live paycheck to paycheck but they will learn a valuable lesson on saving and being prepared. I think city people will have a lot of problems with staying home. I find it interesting to see what companies and organizations are stepping up to help. I am shocked the 2 biggest (really big) churches have been very silent since last Sunday when they were all mad on the news because they didn't want them to have church. They did finally cancel. Also don't think it will hurt for families to spend more time together. IMO some kids today don't want for much and could use a little family time. I'm not speaking of people on here that live on farms and make kids work. I love some of the things I see on FB like 2 kids in detention and the Teacher is Drinking. And the Mother that says to the teacher ...... Little Jimmy would never do that |

I am sure it is because they are trying to test more ..... However, I can't get a number on tests performed.....the surprise is though that they had been testing and the first positive case was on the 11th and now by the 20th (9 days), it has been updated to 100 ..... Also, surprising was that of those cases, 8 were children, only 26 were over 65 and the rest fell in the 19-64 range. I would suppose that now they have the infection in 3 of the nursing homes, we may experience some deaths. |

Yes, and that's why the death rate has been dropping....from about 2.4% to 1.2% in a few days. That doesn't mean we are getting better results. It just means we are getting more cases reported. When the dust has settled, we may end up looking at a mortality rate of less than 0.5%. We'll see more deaths, but much more in terms of reported numbers of cases.

| Today I got a reality punch in the face regarding the corona virus. Yes I know it's serious. I haven't been out of my house for almost 2 weeks. So I havent seen much on the outside world. We got on the wal mart order on line & pick up outside the store thing now. But today I ventured out with bob to go get sawdust for the horses. On the way home we stopped at a walmart in checotah to see if things were different than in mcalester . OMG !!!! Shelves were bare, no bread, no meat " thank God we have our own beef" I needed coffee filters & there were none :( I was hurrying down isles cause I just wanted out of there. So seeing all this was a reality check. This is seriously for real & anyone who has the stupid attitude that it's not real, they are young so they won't get it or the real idiots who think they are invinsable. Those people need to be locked up. Tomorrow is our wal mart pick up so I will do that & run into brawms & get milk, etc. I never thought I'd ever do this but we have masks & I will be wearing one. I have c.o.p.d. & it's nothing to sneeze at. Bob has been great with picking up things on his way home from work. I felt today I just needed to get out. Stress is getting to me. But after what I saw today, I am happy to hunker down in my little home with my husband, our horses & our cats. God Bless our country & our wonderful president who is doing the best he can in a horrible situation. Oh & lets think of this. Why in Gods name would anyone want to do any buisness with china ? That country sucks & they are resopnsable for this mess & I say ban everything we do with china. Bring it all back to America & if companies won't do that, I say kick their ass's out of our country & they can go live in china with those sick people. Be safe. God Bless America

I'm a lifelong reader--if I can get my hands on it, I read it. Read constantly. So I'm thinking of saving my QT Horse News mags at least . Although I will say we haven't had too much trouble getting TP or PT lately. Fresh meat not so much. . . . (Still wouldn't have minded seeing THAT grocery cart in the 50% off isle tho!!!) |

Ethan likes to look at the ads of horses on here and sometimes he'll find threads with horses, but never thought this would happen having a man sitting in a basket with no clothes on and my 11 year old grandchild asking me about it. Times have really changed on here, lol.. |

I work in the emergency room, we haven't had a positive case in our county yet, lots of people panicked and started flooding into the ER, overwhelming us and the hospital up the street. Most of the respiratory, if negative on the respiratory panel have been told to self quarantine for 14 days at home. They upgraded the rooms in the PCU (step down unit of the ICU) to be negative pressure rooms in the event of a positive COVID case. Thankfully all negative. Just overwhelming, stressful, exhausting at this point, and we are so short staffed it's not even funny. |

Yes, many thanks for you and all medical personnel. You are definitely the front lines of our world right now and we will never forget. Why are the emergency rooms packed? Maybe dumb question but I'm really good at dumb questions. I ask them all the time. Are people actually coming to the ER to see if they have Coronavirus? Are they deathly sick? |

I work in the emergency room, we haven't had a positive case in our county yet, lots of people panicked and started flooding into the ER, overwhelming us and the hospital up the street. Most of the respiratory, if negative on the respiratory panel have been told to self quarantine for 14 days at home. They upgraded the rooms in the PCU (step down unit of the ICU) to be negative pressure rooms in the event of a positive COVID case. Thankfully all negative. Just overwhelming, stressful, exhausting at this point, and we are so short staffed it's not even funny.
Round of applause for you! We are grateful! |

Ok. I got a report there was some porn on here so I had to walk by swinging my nightstick and whistling as I peer into this thread. All I saw was some beefcake in a grocery cart. I guess thats what happens when there's nothing else left in the store to buy. No foul here.
Awww, you know your Beefcakes, ha ha ha |

Our life hasn't changed much, I still have to work (vet) and we still have to feed cows and horses. We don't do a lot outside of the farm anyway. Our freezers are full and I have been able to find most things I need at the grocery store. The horse sales are shut down and that is one of our only activities (sad, I know), except for eating out. I have to cook more, which I hate but the hubby cooks quite a bit too. My first foal of the year was born yesterday, so that is a plus. |

Yeah we're on "lockdown" because of Chicago. But the order excludes just about 98% of businesses, so they basically just said "hey if you can, please stay home as much as possible." Instead of putting a shelter in place order they could've just closed the specific businesses down that were added to the bars/restaurants being closed. Pretty much all stores are still open and there's no change in the number of people out & about. We're just not supposed to form in social groups I guess. Everyone is still going to work per usual here |

Absolutely agree--thank you. I never thought much about our nurses and doctors and other medical professionals and what y'all deal with until now. . . With my DIL working ICU in a hospital where one person has already died from this--certainly brings it home. So thank you again to all of our medical personnel who are standing toe to toe with this; I pray protective barriers around each of you |

I saw where it was announced we (AR) are gonna get .92% of the national supply of PPE and equipment, etc. . . I pray this ends quicker than hoped and that more supplies become available for our medical professionals everywhere. |

Apparently I did a bad thing today I colored my hair (from a box) and then got brave and cut my bangs. Which is really brave if you have ever seen me with sissors. Every hairdresser on my Facebook page was warning it would be terrible. Won't bring politics in but I have friends who want to get together and go trail riding at a state park. I know I can social distance while doing it but I just think it's wrong. Only have to trailer 15 miles but IMO it just sets a bad example. I'm not going stir crazy yet and if I want to ride I can do it here. I have lots I can do here if it's a pretty. I know most of these people have not been staying home and I have. Our state also has shut down on unnecessary travel, I just don't feel it is necessary. I guess I am The Fun Police. What do you think?

My heart hurts right along with you. Just got off the phone with one of my friends discussing just what we could do to help out. I really have a problem donating to certain charities because of their paid employees and perks. I like to watch people in the grocery store, usually I do it around Christmas and Thanksgiving. When I find someone only buying the necessities, usually with kids or older people who look like they need help, I buy their groceries. I know it's not much but at least I know the person who needed it got it. Maybe hard to do since I won't be going out much but when I do I will be looking. Just my idea or grocery gift cards to people you know need it but are too proud and hard working to ask. |

My hair guy is worried about that to. There will be a meeting tonight to discuss if hair places should be closed. I know they are disinfecting everything. So I might not get my appo tomorrow morning. If so, I will just let my hair run wild. |

I work on a pcu/covid floor. We currently have the floor divided into half. Normal and testing for covid. We have 4 neg airflow rooms but plans are in the works to make more, I believe. Our hospital has a phone line strictly to answer calls about covid and to screen so our Ed isn't being filled with unnecessary visits. I think our ed numbers have dropped. they're pulling staff from gi lab, pacu, and or that used to work on our floor to come back and give us some relief. There was talk of cross training other floors (short stay, ortho neuro) to take our normal patients but they're freaking out. I have to say my boss has done an excellent job in staffing us. Our normal grid is out the window. This is just the beginning. |

| A big thanks to all the health care workers on the front line fighting this virus. My son was leaving today to deploy in Afghanistan. They were already delayed by weeks. Their equipment is in packed in their cages ( that is a big deal) but they are on lock down until further notice. I should be happy but he still will go and when he gets there his job will be more dangerous ( too many reasons to list) I feel for the families that thought their loved ones were coming home and now they have no idea when their husbands and sons will be back. Coronavirus broke out in Afghanistan but not sure where and I don't know about the Special Op's Compounds. Since those guys actually go into villages I would think there would some contanimation into the Spec Op's guys. |

I have nothing to say except many prayers for all Americans in situations like you. I can't imagine how scared many families must be right now and so scary for the kids. I don't like the current situation at all and worry daily. Prayers for all especially our military, and those trying to stop the madness. Thanks for sharing, you hang in there. |

She goes back on rotation tomorrow am. . . No more cases in her hospital other than the one that passed away that I know of. She stays in Monroe at her apartment til she works off. Then she drives home that night. The reports are that the truckers are getting supplies to the stores. People are stocking the shelves all night and letting old people shop first. Carnival Cruise line told Trump “We can match those big Navy Hospital ships with some fully staffed cruise ships” GM said hold our cars and watch this; we can make those ventilators where we were making cars starting next week. Women and children are making homemade masks and handing out snacks to truckers. Restaurants and schools said, We’ve got kitchens and staff; we can feed kids.” Churches are holding on-line services and taking care of their members and community. NBA basketball players said, “Hold our basketballs while we write checks to pay the arena staff.” Construction companies said, “Here are some masks for the medical staff and doctors”. Breweries are making sanitizer out of the left-over ingredients. We thought we couldn’t live without Baseball, NASCAR, NBA or going to the beach, restaurants or a bar. Instead, we’re trying to keep those businesses open by ordering take-out.
What communist China didn't count on was America saying "Hey, hold my beer and watch this."
I think a Japanese Admiral in the middle of the Pacific said it best in 1941, "I think we have awakened a sleeping giant."
Give us a few more weeks (maybe months) and we will be doing much better! And stop listening to the hysterical media!!
Sharing this from another FB friend. We have wonderful country and an amazing God.
I know we will be ok .????????????????????

Great post. It's pretty impressive to see these signs of American exceptionalism. |

Location: Arkansas | Today on the way home from LR, we stopped at a produce stand to get Momma some strawberries (she's coping by making jelly). When I called her to tell her the kind they had, I read the label (out loud obviously)---the owner said please don't say that so loud. . . . They were LA strawberries from Carona Farms |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Just wondering how everybody is holding up? I'm so thankful we have land to move around on and my life is still pretty much normal, just been mowing and weed eating planting flowers and vegetables, sure am going to have alot of tomatos, lol. Never been one to go shoping and hanging out in town so this staying home is the norm for me anyway, just kinda missed going to eat in the evenings, missing my favorite restaurants.. |

Ms. Dr. Phil
Location: My happy place | I'm doing fine like you I'm very thankful we have land and animals to keep us busy. Thanks for asking. My husband has been home since 3/20, he didn't want to stay home but finally listened to me so now he's glad he did. I am the lucky one he has been doing all barn chores and is mowing (my job) now, thank goodness he fired up the smoker yesterday. I was tried of what's for dinner, I'm not used to cooking this much. I am upset with my son he didn't take this serious, till someone he worked with was exposed and they shut them down. Now he says he is but he let my granddaughter 15+ go visit her boyfriend Saturday who just got back from FL and has a parent who is a nurse in a nursing home. So now they can just stay down the road and we visit from a distance. This bothers me but hopefully they are young and healthy, he still thinks Trump is great so what can I say. He thought I was nuts when I wouldn't go visit with them on 3/15 (before boyfriend went to FL) when the boyfriend was there. I know the boyfriend is a Trump fan he wears a button on his hat, so I don't think his family is/was concerned......they went to FL. Not turning it political just wanting some to understand my fears. I don't know what scares me more face licking or grabbing. Not funny at all and he's a nice kid. Other than than I'm doing great, I have always said I could be the crazy hermit animal lady. I have played more Skip Bo than I ever thought possible and I keep trying to think of chores to keep my husband busy. I can read anytime he has to be busy.

| Staying at home has it's benefits. When the mud goes away. We are also perfecting the live podcast for Barrel Horse World and have done two so far. Good audience. |

Location: Arkansas | Holding up and working behind locked door at office. Getting LOTS of calls with questions about stimulus money, unemployment, and "hurry up and file my 19 taxes"!!!! On a sad note, Lula Bell was moved to the Covid unit today. . . A RN that was supposed to work there told the higher ups that she didn't know how to start an IV--so they called LB up. I don't know if this will be ongoing or just temporary (she's an ICU nurse), but I'd certainly appreciate each and every prayer y'all would send up please |

Location: North of the 49th Parallel | Still working reduced hours from home. Going a little stir crazy as doing my best for doing my part and staying home. Unfortunately a specialist appt for tomorrow that I really needed was cancelled/rescheduled this afternoon, presumably due to COVID. |

Location: Kansas | It's scary and I might add depressing when you're being assured that here in Kansas things will only get much worse over the next three weeks. We have 400 cases in our county and one man died yesterday in Haysville only seven miles from where we live. Local news just announced a case at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita. They're asking some Spirit Aircraft employees to come back to work and they simply don't want to. I think I would handle this much better if I never watched the news.

Both my children are in health care. One a NP OB/gyn. She has to continue seeing patients. Our son is a paramedic. Our town has more cases then Atlanta. 11 deaths so far in a town of only 80K. Well over 100 positive and over 300 waiting on results.
If people would just stay home and do their part. But they won't. It is a me me society.
you down by albany thats just plum weird about it |

Location: Oklahoma | I envy everyone who can work from home. Unfortunitly my job forces me to be in very close contact with hundreds of people for 13+ hours. We screen staff before they come in, but even if they've been in contact with individuals who tested positive, if they don't have symptoms or a fever, HR says to work them. We're just doing the best we can to get by. About the only difference is we have more hand sanitizer around, but its all alcohol free so...who knows how much that really helps. We're just taking it day by day, and trying to keep my officers as safe as possible. I think we just crested over 20 positive cases in our county, several in our town. |
