How many are truly being effected by this? The numbers have no limits ... truly a trickle down thing... I received a call this afternoon from my husband saying the county came into his work and shut them down . Just like that. So far, we hadn't been really effected other than the inconvenience of not being able to find certain items in the grocery stores. My husband drives a truck... he delivers batteries... automotive batteries... truck batteries,  marine batteries etc etc.... this is a huge company with branches all over the US. I would consider his job essential... he delivers to the likes of Sam's club, and numerous auto stores and walmarts. He makes approximately 17-18 delivery a day. They are extremely busy. I was shocked when he told me this. His boss told the drivers the company will fight this to keep these guys on the road. But not sure how long any of this, ALL OF THIS , is going to last. We are prepared for emergencies like this financially but still, it's very unsettling. On another note, a driver and a close friend of my husband caught the virus is on leave ... my husband assured me he had zero contact in person with him and the company had the warehouse professionally cleaned after learning he was ill... In the meantime, my husband, thankfully has a few cousins that will keep him working if needed. We are fortunate,  but many arent. This makes me so sad and nervous. I pray for a quick resolution and pray those truly effected a swift comeback! I tightened our belts immediately and canceled all my non essential autoships, extras "luxury" things. Staying home is saving lots of money in fuel.

Working reduced hours; expecting a lay off next week. My contract is up April 3 anyways but we had sort of agreed for me to continue (as I wasn't planning on moving Apr 4 as planned!) as they hadn't hired anyone amid this craziness to take over but I don't think we have the financial means for me to continue. So impacted big time here. I'm okayish financially as I have a bit saved up as I was planning on moving.

My husband is a John Deere Salesman in the field most of the time and only at the store for sure one day a week.  Right now they aren't wanting any of the salesman in the store at all.  He is set up to be able to do all his paper work at home.  His job will continue on because the farmers still need equipment.  He is just doing more over the phone and when needs to go to the farms they keep the "social distance".  Tomorrow he has to go to the store to pick up some equipment to deliver and they will just have it outside waiting on him to get there and load it on their own.  We are sure in some strange times but we will all be ok if we work together.

I'm a dental hygienist and all non essential dental care has been closed. I'm really glad we are!!!  We were considered the highest risk profession for contacting and spreading since N95 masks are not the standard in dental. Makes me pray going forward they will eventually be... The doctors are only open for emergency care in accordance to the strong recommendations of the ADA. So I've been laid of for 6 weeks... Praying that's all because every few days it keeps changing. First we thought 1 to 2 weeks. Then 3 and now 6 weeks. Sooo my horses will be very fit lol.

If for sure has caused mass chaos in some way or another In our life's with each of us. I as well am a critical care nurse, ER at one hospital and ICU at the other and dang it is constantly changing. Our PPE is also running low. They expect us to be completely empty by the end of the month, which is days away!!! But it's part of the job, so just continue on through the madness!

That's scary you are running out. Praying for you guys. My sister is a cna in the rehabilitation unit at our hospital. They took half of her unit and turned it into the covid-19 unit. They just got their first confirmed case staying in the unit today. She said they are pretty ready but already prepared to ration their PPE. So sad.

So far my husband and I are still working. He works for a retirement community and is guaranteed a job. I work for a distribution company and thus far, we are staying open. Not much has changed for me actually. Other than our church is online only and I miss going in person. Just proved to me I've become very anti social since we moved to Dallas 2.5 years ago. What can I say, people suck. Especially the horse people up here......

This to shall pass, and there will be struggles in the coming month but things will come back.

I've been trying to keep a cool head since all this started.... it's just scary as heck. In the beginning I wasnt worried one bit,  thinking we'd be over this within a few weeks but its certainly not looking like it now. It's ok to admit I'm scared, im worried, the thing I worry about the most is my kids, especially Jacob. Last night I began feeling "not right" ... just off... if all this wasnt going on, I'd have just chalked it up to coming down with something... I almost had a panic attack over it. I'd never ever forgive myself if I was indeed sick and spread it to my boys. Super tired, I fell asleep on my couch after supper, that's not me at all. Granted I did a hardcore yoga session yesterday and we played quite a bit outside and it was hot yesterday. Stress is truly a silent "killer" of the immune system... I felt run down... I believe I'm dehydrated so today I'm taking it easy and drinking lots of water to try to replenish! I've been repressing a lot of stress I think. Putting on a smiley face to keep the kiddos from getting worried. While I dont want my husband to be out of working and it would hit us financially eventually,  I'd much prefer him being home and not being out being exposed. Or I'd much rather him be working on the side for his cousin, hauling gravel,  they rarely even get out of their trucks at stops. I received a call this morning from our insurance company,  for our vehicles,  trailers, tractors and home .. saying they are not going to be drafting the funds this month to help out their loyal clients... no penalties,  no lapse in insurance. I almost starting crying on the phone... not because I was worried about the money, but because the kindness and the sincerity in my agents voice. I've been a client of theirs for almost 20 years. Sure not having that payment at the end of this month definitely helps loosen the belt and take a deep breath. We have definitely spent more money than I ever have on our grocery budget trying to ensure we had plenty stocked. I'm not a hoarder but it's just so uncertain these days you get what you can when you can.

We own 4 restaurants in the San Antonio area. It has really hurt us. Not only the shut down but the newer law that makes us pay all our employees a portion of their paycheck, even if not working. It is either that or lay them all off, since we cant serve inside. The good thing is we dont have waiter, just service line and the cooks and prep. But we are open in our take out and offering discounts and delivery.

Our feed store is currently doing well, but it will slow down I know. But we are an essential so we will not be closing.

We are producing and shipping on time so far. Social distancing, but since we do no direct sales to stores, and everything ships directly to distributors, we have no walk in traffic in our office. We are headquartered in a small rural town in Northern California. No cases in our county yet, but that is only a matter of time. It is getting harder to get trucks, and those rates have gone up 25%. All in all, we are very lucky so far.

I haven't felt it yet here in the vet world but I'm scared of what will come in the following months as people's income continues to take a hit.

My dad is a CRNA, a nurse anesthetist.  His work load consists of OB shifts and then other things like colonoscopies, eye surgeries, etc.. Because they arent doing any nonessential surgeries right now, the hospital just cut his hours from 320 a month to 180 a month.. which means he's definitely going to take a pay cut.

My older sister is an OR nurse at a surgery center. She just got furloughed.  Because they canceled nonessential surgeries, the facility had no choice but to shut down.  They gave their nurses two options- apply for unemployment or try to pick up shifts at the main hospital they are affiliated with.  But, they can't do both, and if they choose to try and pick up shifts and cant get enough.. well they are SOL.

My younger sister is a floor nurse at a large hospital in Sugar Land.  She has been on floors with COVID patients and she has had to screen hospital visitors as well (not on the same nights of course).  PPE is running low for her as well, she doesnt even get a mask when she screens visitors. just gloves.

On my end, inventory is tight. Getting sterile gloves is almost impossible. I search and search until I finally find some random brand that has a few left in the size my boss needs.  Exam gloves are hit and miss. I can forget getting masks, gowns, etc right now which is OK for now.

Thank you! It's really tested the strength of teamwork on my floor. Right now we are half covid half pcu, but there is talk of moving the pcu elsewhere. I'm blessed to say I have a boss that is fighting for us. She took some of our previous employees that now work in or, pacu, and gi lab back to help give us a little break before it really hits the fan here because we're already burning out. I've heard of other hospitals laying off nurses which to me is just crazy. If anything they can task and ease the burden. I think Nebraska only has like 60 cases right now and most are at home. Hoping that we are over preparing. Habitat for humanity just donated us like 7-10k masks and we have all sorts of people donating cloth masks to wear over our n95 that we have to reuse. Supposedly our hospital just got some uv thing for our floor so we can disinfect them.

I have some friends their daughter gave birth yesterday and they obviously cannot have any visitors. The baby had to go in the NICU because she was having trouble breathing. So scary ... and then you throw in this virus and it's even more scary, being in the hospital with a newborn... I know they have the very best protocols in place but still it's got to be unnerving!

So, I'm hoping and wondering at the same time what we are all going to take away from this when the dust settles.. more preparedness? I know for myself and our family.... I will make it a point to grow a stockpile of necessities, nothing outrageous... just extra bottled waters, Clorox wipes, lysol, my garden is planted and I definitely plan on breaking out my canning stuff and can more. I've taken it for granted. I'm going to invest in another deep freeze and probably a better generator, we haven't had to use the one we have, thankfully, but it's old and needs some love I'm sure. I dont want to be over the top prepper lady, but I definitely want to feel secure and not worry about the basics.

I sure hope that baby will pull through!

Growing up my mom and grandma always had a small stockpile of non-perishable food, cleaning supplies, toiletries and such. They kept a close eye on the sales, and when things went on sale they would get some extra.
And everytime they used something it would go on the grocery list for next time. That way we could survive for weeks on end if we needed to. Guess growing up in Europe through/after the war that was a habit of them. Now I am so glad they did, and even if I got a bit away from it we still have enough in the house to not have to worry for a while.

Also, having a freezer full of meat (bought 1/4 of a calf not too long ago) and having chickens running around does help.
And we used to have a little vegie garden, but convenience and not enough time in the day made us neglect that. We might just start that back up again.

The only thing we would like but have not gotten yet is a generator for the house. We have 1 that the hubby uses for his welding, and the lq trailer has one, so we have some options in case of an emergency.

Eta, I got send home yesterday, but so far my husband is still working. Not sure when we will go back to work, but till then I guess the horses and dog will get more attention. Might just have to start spring cleaning while I am home.

Our company (family owned) sells aircraft components to the likes of Boeing, Lockheed, Cessna, Northrop Grumman and many others so we have no choice but to stay open as we are considered essential.  A lot of our staff is working from home (or watching TV).  I'm not because I have my own office and our building is very spacious and clean.  It will most certainly hit us financially sooner or later because of slowdowns.

Why would Meep.meep think this is funny?????

She's generally just very cheerful and upbeat, I think.  It's her way of lifting the mood. Just my guess.

I'm thinking shes hooked on laughing gas and just has the giggles all the time..

That you keep showing up to help people in need is truly heroic. May you receive all the protection you so desperately need.

My husband is active duty Air Force and he is deployed. Thanks to the Secretary of Defense, his now being delayed coming home by around 90 days due to a no travel overseas order, and that is not a guaranteed time frame and it may very well be longer. Us moving to Arizona has been on hold. Us fixing up and selling our house has been put on hold. All of our travel plans to try and figure out where we want to live in AZ has been pushed back.. to what date, I don't know.

All I have to say is I am super ****ed, along with the other 90,000 families that this has affected. I think the thing that annoys me the most is so many people preach that they support the troops, yet people are hoarding and thinking about themselves, and it is almost like the military and their families have been forgotten.

I say now, and I'm not saying this directly to any of you, because for those who are NOT staying home.. Please do. Because the sooner we get this under control, the sooner our troops can come home to their loved ones and families.

I am so sorry all your plans have been put on hold.  I know I am the biggest complainer on here about war.  Please don't think that I don't support our troops, or what your husband does.  I actually have got in a lot of disgreements about our troops, I would perfer to keep them out of harms way.

Not supporting a war is not to disrespect our troops in any way.  I'm so terribly upset over our governments reaction to what our guys go through with roadside bombs, I could hurt someone myself.  Just because they don't look hurt doesn't me they don't have trauma and to call it a headache just makes me mad.  If we're going to send them we better take care of them.

Thank your husband for me and I'm so sorry.  Hang in there.

I live on the border of 2 states.  KY with a democrat governer (and a broke state) took it more serious than IN (not broke state) with a republican.  The numbers seem to show.  Both states are on lock down, but they have so many exceptions no one is paying any attention and going about there business.

I have been taking this kind of serious since 3/7 with very few trips to town.  Finally told my husband if he didn't quit working he could live in the guest house next door.  He has been off since 3/20, he thought I was nuts till he started watching and paying attention to the news and watching Trump's press conferences (all news we watched FOX tonight LOL) now he's glad he's home.  I may not be crazy at all.

I work for a company that services big trucks. We are busier than ever. I was put on shorter hours a few weeks ago but with the increased volume of work there is no way I can work less. Out of 50 stores in the company from DC north to Vermont and most in PA, our store is in the top 5 $$'s right now, and we are one of the smallest in footprint and # of techs. We sent all 4 techs out with multiple road calls by 8am yesterday morning!

There will be no staying home for me unless I get sick. The weather has generally been beautiful so I'm a little jealous of those posing how much they've been riding! I have a yearling and two yo who would benefit greatly if I could be home. But I also appreciate the blessing of not having my life thrown into chaos any more than it has to be.
