| Have my horses on good hay and will be on pasture turnout once the grass starts growing and turns green again. Just curious about any good additional supplements for overall health as far as coat and body condition. My mare can get on the hotter side so don’t want anything that would increase that.

 My Heart Be Happy

Location: Arkansas | My herd is on Platinum CJ and have been for years. It's not cheap but I love how my horses look and feel. . . . These were taken in June 19. Black mare is 19, buckskin is 16, Paint is 15, light sorrel is 24, and darker sorrel is 12. They were getting a small amount of Purina feed, Forco, and CJ. Sean would also throw out a couple of flakes of Bermuda.

Location: Arkansas | Even tho he's gone now, I couldn't leave out my Doodlebug--he was 37 here. He was on rice bran, beet pulp, Sr Active, Forco, and CJ. I lost him at 39, and he was shiny and happy til that last night. . . |

Last year I switched to Purina Outlast and Purina Ultium Gastric Care. I also give them some alfala pellets. They don't get much because they don't need that much extra calories, but I like something in their tummies when they stand at the trailer when I ride. (Also always throw up a slow feed hay net.) I used to feed Platinum Performance CJ, which I did like. But of course it's spendy. A few years ago I switched to T.H.E. Muscle Mass (and do a custom blend for joint and inflammation support). It's not quite as expensive as PPCJ, and I like that the daily serving is smaller so it's easier to mix with their "grain". And mine seem to like the flavor better than PPCJ. So I've liked the T.H.E. (Total Health Enhance) a bit better. I might try the Performance blend this year instead of Muscle Mass. I don't know if I wil do a custom blend this time b/c I put Shotgun on Adequan and will have Red on something too. I mostly do the feed-through just to make sure they are getting all their vitamins and minerals. |

 Balance Beam and more...

Location: 31 lengths farms | Mine are 16,17, and 19, these photos were taken about a month ago before they really started to shed out. They are turned out 24/7, no shelters, I do blAnket if it is raining and cold only because the littel mare will not eat if she gets chilled to the poiint she shakes. They are each on their own 1 acred pasture, They get a combo of wheat hay and alfalfa in the morning and then wheat hay at night with , Renew Gold and then the 16 year old gets her herbs for her kidneys , she and the big mare get a Cur-ost formula for immune and , big mare and hte gelding get the Total Support from Cur-ost and we add Cur-ost Pure for race weekends. I put ACV and Aloe Vera juice over that feed. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2834980829930426&set=pcb.2834980929930416&type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2834980899930419&set=pcb.2834980929930416&type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2834980446597131&set=pcb.2834980929930416&type=3&theate Edited, just looked these are actually from March 4th, I think my geldings coat was my reminder they needed to be dewormed.,,

Well....I tried the purina gastric care again because I was suspecting ulcers in my horse and I like the idea of this feed . I tried it when it first came out and my horse choked on it.. I figured I had gotten a dry bag and the feedstore refunded me on it I moved onto something else... that was a few years ago .. I fed him just a few handfuls the other night to try it and he choked AGAIN on it. Super disappointed because I was hoping it would be a good thing for him. I dont want to soak because this horse doesnt eat all his feed if I soak and it gets gross with flies. So currently hes just getting a few handfuls of sr feed along with CEP Gut Check till I can find something that will make his gut and me happy! I know eventually I will need to find something better and feed more to get the needed nutrients in. |

Bummer! I actually even feed my alfalfa pellets DRY because my dumb horses will NOT eat them if I soak them or even make them wet or soggy. Weirdos. So of course the Outlast pellets are way smaller than that and have not been a problem. Did you know that Outlast makes a cookie now? You could try that!!
