Kicking around an idea. My good horse is 16.2 hands tall and 1300 pounds in shape ! He has a big barrel but just the way he is made. He has a roll back style and when he gets to a barrel he throws all 1300 pounds into the turn and is in and out in 1 move. Absolutely love his style and try. Saddle fit it great ! If YOU are not prepared for the turn and squeeze with your legs you can and will go over his head. Lol. But I LOVE that style. He gives 100000000 percent every run. Anyway, I'm a guy so not 110 pounds by any stretch so I was considering using a wider back cinch ( kinda rope style) jiust for stability and his comfort. What do you think?

Yes, all my saddles always had and has the wider back cinches, I hate those thin back cinches. Why not the wider its better I think and makes more sense.

I prefer to use a regular cinch as a 'back cinch' (i've seen a few others that do this as well - a really long mohair cinch for the back, in my opinion can better shape to a curvier belly or not cut in if it has to be at an angle, unlike a straight cut leather back cinch.

I too do not like the narrow ones. My barrel saddles have the narrow billets on the sides, but the bottom part that is across the belly is wider. I like that. It doesn't have so much back cinch in the way for my legs, but yet gives better "support" around the belly.
