Hello- I am taking my mare on a trip the end of June and she is likely going to be cycling during the week we are gone. Prior to her being bred 3 years ago she was always a really easy horse to get along with. Non herd bound. However anytime since foaling that she is cycling she is a real winch to ride, herd bound. Is there an addititive that I can give her so she is easier to get along with this year. Just a temporary additive. Something to add to her feed.

All those herbal and natural remedies are not worth the money I'm my opinion. Have your vet give you regumate and deal with it at a hormone level. It works. My mare was absolutely miserable and I tried all the herbs, raspberry leaf junk. She has been a happy happy girl for 3 years now on regumate.

I just sold a mare that was awful when she was cycling. She'd just get cranky and heck and she would hip check everything she came close to (fences, trees, horse trailers, whatever). I put her on the Phytosan CBD about 3 weeks before she left my place and she was cycling hard. I noticed a much improved attitude within 2 days. I chatted with the gal I sold her to and she said she went into full blown heat about 4 days after they got her home and she was cranky. I offered to bring her some of the Phytosan but she opted to try some CBD drops she had on hand. said she noticed a difference by the end of the day.
Not saying its an answer for all the cranky mares but it sure worked for this one. And is relatively cheap to try.
