I need some help yall!!!! I need to know how to add more speed between the barrels. My mare has good speed to first barrel and home, but we are loosing alot of time between the barrels. How do I get her to pick up the pace without just whipping? I want to teach her. What are some drills to do  to teach this? One thing to add is I do not have an arena at home and I do not have barrels at home either all i have is about a 200 yard area that I trot because ground is so sketchy. I can haul to an arena periodically. I know not the most ideal situation but it is what I have. Any help would be appreciated.

I would suggest doing some research and finding trails local to you that also have large, wide open areas where you can haul your horse and breeze.  Also, make sure that you are still riding your horse to the barrels and using your positioning to help encourage your horse to maintain that forward movement.  Make sure that you aren't just sitting up and hoping that your horse will keep running regardless of your seat.  Keep your horse in shape and make sure you are RIDING.  Some horses won't run in certain pens and do much better in others.

Breezing is good if you have a good safe place to do it.  I think if you don't get impatient, the speed will come. Smooch some and see if that helps. Have someone video you and make sure you are not pulling back and you just don't realize it.
