I had mare that would tie up in the spring and early summer.  Suspected PSSM and green grass was the trigger.   I put her on selenium and vitamin E and kept her off green grass until hot summer.  Never tied up again.

What are you feeding?  Tying up is usually is nutrition or work related.

I switched my mare to a low startch & sugar diet. She can't have alfalfa due to making her a hot basket case and sweats excessively. I give her Vit E and Magnesium with every meal. I give her extra electrolytes as needed. All has been good since adjusting her diet.

Thank you, I have been looking at different supplements trying to figure out which one would be the best for her. I think I'm goin to go back to the D&D feed I really think she is getting too much starch and sugar with this one.

California trace minerals, multivitamins and pure vitamin E and 2 tablespoons of salt daily.  Be sure to walk out to cool down .all those amino acids remain in those muscles waiting to be used. By walking they disperse. Vitamins E and C feed those muscles. Reduce iron intake.

Determined what is causing it.  Mine was diagnosed with PSSM2, so he's on high protein & the Tri Aminos for base diet and really watch his muscles and how he's actually doing.
