I boarded at a place YEARS ago that used two shipping containers as tack rooms. It was easy to run light through, if I remember, and obviously weather-proof. It was nice if it got muddy since you could just step up into the shipping container and be on a dry surface. There was no A/C put in, so I can't help there.
The only cons were it was super hard to get the door opened and closed- you can always have the container door removed and put on your own, I suppose.
Also, gotta make sure that you don't accidentally close the barn kitties in it!

Theres a few places that have these shipping contaners that will add windows and doors to them and add insulation. I like them nothing can get in to destory your tack or what ever you want to put in there.

I had a friend that had rats get into his tack room a ruin some Louis Ortega reins and bosals. A container is the answer to that never happening. They make a good starting point to whatever level of refinement you want to go. I have even seen tiny houses made from two stacked up. It was pretty nice too.
