I have never been particular about my rasps. I keep 20 head trimmed up year round myself so I do use it quite a bit, but I can't say what brand. Probably something the local feed store carries. Now nippers are another story. GE was so well worth the money.

Used to shoe horses as a business but had back surgery so now just my own. GE Nippers, if you dont have them are the best! I really like my Heller Black Ledged rasps. They stay sharp a long time and are smooth.

I have a Cody James rasp and love it. Gotta wear gloves! It doesn't give a smooth finish, though, so you'd want another rasp for that part. For wet weather seasons, I mostly can just rasp and don't need nippers.....but when I do....GE. I will never buy the crap nippers at the feed store, again.
