My 10yo barrel gelding was just diagnosed with a hind proximal suspensory injury. Not torn, but VERY angry and inflamed. We are going to do PRP, 45-90 day stall rest and a strict rehab program to hopefully be back running in a year. Has anyone else dealt with this and if so, what treatment and therapies worked for you? What was the rehab program? Did they come back 100%?

controlled exercise is a mainstay in any soft tissue injury repair. 

For some horses with chronic PSD you can do a surgery called a deep plantar neurectomy and fasciotomy. they transect the deep branch of the lateral plantar nerve which innervates the proximal suspensory ligament, and then releases the fascia around the ligament that causes carpal tunnel type pain.  Not all horses are candidates for the surgery, especially those with acute injury or poor upright hind limb conformation. Risks of the sx are suspensory breakdown and failure. Doesnt happen often but when it does, its bad news. 

im also a fan of runners relief poultice. Doesnt always help in chronic PSD but I like to do what I can to try and help. 12 hours on 12 hours off. 

I’ve had two.  One came back and one didn’t.  The one that didn’t was not treated correctly by owner.  She continued to turn out and did not stall rest him.  The other one was stall rested.  Hand walked after ultrasound at 30 days.  Cold laser everyday.  Runners relief 12 on 12 off.  Ice for 15 minutes then laser.  Then re apply the Runners relief.  I would also start on Summit JP.  It will help with the inflammation.  If you have access to a theraplate , it would also speed up healing.

i used runners relief sweets look it up it really works my vet could not beleave it there was no scar tisue at all

What cold laser did you use? I know very little about them but will spend the money if it will help! I just don't want to purchase the wrong one.
