We are in Sabine Parish near Toledo Bend right in the pathway of the storm. We thought about evacuating but don't have enough room to haul all the horses.. and we don't want to leave any behind so we've decided to hunker down and stay put. Prayers to everyone!!

145 mph winds and 175 mph gusts.  The forecast for the coastline is so bleak.  I keep hoping something will change but it only seems to get more gloomy.  Last year we had 100 mph winds at our house that tore two trees right out of the ground.  I was scared to death.

Everyone be safe and their livestock too.  You're all important.

After dealing with Irma and her aftermath, I really hope that Laura doesn't do too much damage.

It is definetly NOT something I want to go through again and I am a Florida native.

Prayers for everyone in her path and for the people that come to help set things back up.

Prayers for you. and your animals.  Looking at the map not an area I would want to be in tonight.  Please be careful and check in when you can.  I don't think I could leave if I couldn't take all my livestock & pets.  Sure hope it's not as bad as it looks on radar.  Prayers.

I'm from the area but live up by Dallas now. Ive had all but 1 friend check in so far. Southeast Texas got lucky. Theres still damage but its not as bad as it would have been had Laura not jogged east. SWLA.... Ya'll pray and pray hard. The devastation is unreal and its still early. We are selling a place in Starks to a family. Starks is about 20 miles NW of Lake Charles, just north of Vinton. He stayed. I was in contact with him most of the night and at 4am he told me the house is gone. He made it into his truck and was riding out the rest of it in there. Still havent seen pictures and Im not sure I want to..... My best friend is 10 miles up the road. Her husband stayed and she brought her son and mom with her to our place. Their 2 barns are gone. Laid down the arena on 1 side. The back porch has a huge hole in it but the house is ok. Her moms place next door is destroyed. No roof and blew a shed into the side of it. But ALL of their animals that stayed are safe!!!!

We have tornado warnings to the south of us. We are supposed to expect high winds and heavy rain through the night tonight but so far ... so good! I was worried about Three4Luck (Vonda) and rollingrfarm (Karen). They are further south than me.

My weather alert radio keeps going off like crazy. We have tornado warnings all over this area. The closest is 20 miles south. I hope it stays south. Vonda checked in on FB....They got wind and about 2.5" of rain. They haven't looked at there crops yet.

We have had some pretty gusty wind today; maybe about 1 1/2 inches of rain.  It looked like I may lose some tin off my barn roof tonight, but my fence was ok and horses all safe.  Our houses are good and we are all safe and sound.  So very thankful God has protected us, but it breaks my heart to see the devastation of other places.

Thanks for asking Miss Mary. . .

We came through the night well .... Tornados (or high winds) went south and north of us. We actually sit at the base and between the foothills of the Ozarks and the Delta plains. I think that helps us with storms. It didn't seem like we even got much wind at all. Usually I lose a few branches, here and there, when ever a "breeze" hits .... I did have a little less than 4" in the rain gauge this morn and still raining lightly. We are expecting more severe weather Sat-Sun ..... Vonda and Karen both weathered the storm well too!

The strom surge is going to be catastropic they were saying on the weather channel, this is what really worries me the most..

You safe in your area, Miss R?

You getting any bad weather debra?im wondering about you and NJJ?

We have tornado warnings to the south of us. We are supposed to expect high winds and heavy rain through the night tonight but so far ... so good! I was worried about Three4Luck (Vonda) and rollingrfarm (Karen). They are further south than me.

Glad you are ok,i hope they check in,but i dont see them much here anymore:(

My weather alert radio keeps going off like crazy. We have tornado warnings all over this area. The closest is 20 miles south. I hope it stays south. Vonda checked in on FB....They got wind and about 2.5" of rain. They haven't looked at there crops yet.

I flipped over to WC just a few minutes ago and saw north AR was getting hammered with tornadoes and chances of flash floods---please stay safe up there Miss Norma. .

Norma glad to hear that it was a calm night for you and John, hope we get to hear from a few other BB's befor long thats from Louisiana.. Would like to know that they are OK..

I heard from Mel (Bigtime Mistake). She lives around Vinton, LA. They had severe damage to barns/tree/carport. I haven't heard anything from Jennifer (LRQHS). They don't post much here on BHW anymore.

Off topic, but does anyone ever hear from Miss Cat (TreasureHunter)?   She lives in Minden LA and stopped coming on here just as Corona hit.   I've called and texted and PMed her for months to no avail.

We are in Sabine Parish near Toledo Bend right in the pathway of the storm. We thought about evacuating but don't have enough room to haul all the horses.. and we don't want to leave any behind so we've decided to hunker down and stay put. Prayers to everyone!!

Just wondering about scwebster...

Checking in!!!

We sustained moderate damage to our home, carport and arena but our barn was completely untouched. All 20 something horses are just fine. Thank you all for thinking of and praying for us during this time.

For those who were asking, we are 2 hours North of Lake Charles, if that helps. We are not super close to the coast but our local meteorologists were concerned  due to the geographics of the area in connection with Toledo Bend Lake and projected path and strength of the storm. Luckily for us, Laura went East a little sooner than expected. We sustained winds high enough to damage structures, knock down trees and power lines but we are not in absolute ruins  like many of our neighbors to the South. Please pray for them during this time. Some areas are not expected to have electricity for several more weeks.

ETA if any of my fellow BBs need anything or know of someone who does, please let me know! Looking to send down some supplies or help out in any way I can.

Finishing day 5 without electricity. Lost some big oaks but no structure damage and everybody is ok. I never thought a hurricane would make it this far north.

I'm ashamed to admit that I only ever called her Miss Cat---I don't even remember her last name.   And we talked for over a year.   I have looked and can't find anything I wrote down or kept with her full name on it.
