Hello all! My fiance and I just recently purchased a new home where we will be able to keep the horses on our property. I currently have 2 horses, 1 thats 31 who is just living the good life and a 4 yr old that I am currently riding and beginning to haul places. Right now, they are both at a friends house with her horses so me leaving someone by themselves isnt an issue, a few always get left behind when we go somewhere. I'm worried about leaving the older guy alone while we go to a barrel race. Although he's sound enough to haul along and come with us, I really dont want to do that to him because he has been there, done that... for decades, literally, LOL. Do I use this as an excuse for a new horse?! tee hee hee, my fiance enjoys riding too and woudnt object to a new equine addition so we could actually ride together, or do I get a goat, donkey, mini, alpaca, some cows etc? Thoughts, suggestions? What should I name my new horse? LOL

I don't see the harm in getting another horse as long as you've got enough land for 3.

I hate to bring this up, but your 31 year old horse may not have many years ahead of him. Having another horse to be a companion to your 4 year old if/when the other passes would probably be a good idea.
