Looking for an affordable barn option. Highly considering having a "carport" style cover set up and finishing out the inside to best suit our needs. Open to ideas though! Wanting 3 stalls, and a tack/feed combo. Show me yours!! 

We are currently clearing fenceline and brush to start construction on a lean-to/carport type barn-ish kind of structure- The cover/carport/lean-to part is going to be 40x20,  with be 4 10x20 covered runs/stalls. The end stall will be 10x10 and the other 10x10 section will be closed in for feed/tack. So, it's really 3 10x20 stalls and one 10x10 stall with a 10x10 tack  room. So I don't have pictures yet - 

or are you going to purchase the metal type carport and use that?  We are having a pipe corner posts/structure support and tin roof with a wall on the north side.  The costs were comparable with purchasing a carport but then we would still have had to do all the other stuff to make the stalls and enclose a portion for the tack room.

edited to add - the roof will be tied into the roof of 40 ft storage container, hubby is cutting doors in the side of the container so we can move thru the container to the other side where "his" area will be without having to walk all the way around or if its raining we won't have to get out in the rain.  Still nailing down the final design - might leave an aisle between two sections of stalls where the door will be for easy access to all stalls/runs at feeding time and still be out of the weather.... hmmmmm.... I only need 3 stalls......(for now, LOL)

I've been looking into buying a kit from Versatube that sounds similar to what you are looking for. I live in logging country but the price of wood is just ridiculous.

What I had in mind, so far, is a 24x40 structure.. just the roof, and beams on the sides. (So, wide open to start with.) I haven't completely nailed down the direction I want it "facing." Could be - I want to finish it out with two 12x12 stalls on the back wall (west wall) 8x10 breeze way across the front of these stalls (running north to south) another 12x12 stall and a 8x12 feed/tack combo finishing out the north wall. Will likely leave the south facing wall open, but could wall it. Or.. rotate it, with the two 12x12 stalls on the north wall, the breezeway running East to west, third 12x12 stall and tack feed combo finishing out the rear (west facing) wall. East wall would be open, making it more of a shedrow type look.. and letting me see into the barn from the side of my house. (Probably my favorite layout.. because I would have them inside if I could get away with it.) 

To start I can finish out with temporary stalls. We are waiting on lumber cost to go down as well. Hurricane season really makes lumber skyrocket in this area. But, eventually I would want it finished out all pretty and "farmhouse-y" to match the house. Baby steps. 

We are waiting on ours  We got from Eagle...(cant remember whole name) and they are supposed to be out in bout 3 weeks.  We have already waited 5 weeks.  Anyways Hubby already built a 20x20 and I have 2 stalls and an alleyway.  the building we order will be 20x20 with 12' leanto along one side.  the leanto for my hay and whatever and the 20x20 will be feed room and whatever.  I just thinking tho I may make an area where the roll up door is mats and somehow crossties and that way I can do my feet inside if weather bad.  hmmm lol ready for it! but we still have so much other stuff to do to get our new place ready so waiting not so bad right now! lol

Why not just go with a conventional barn.  It would withstand the violent weather we all know so well much better. 

in our case it had to do with time and money.  We have to be moved bc we have contract on our house and we are also going to use as storage til shop gets buildt and we knew we would alsways use this for something else.  Lumber is crazy high now! and this was the cheapest and fastest way! and my hubby and I are doing all the work on getting everything else ready to move ourselves and it is worth having this to save us alot of time! and my friend had one that was super tall to hold an rv and it also have a closed up room in it and a leanto also and it held up to alot and didnt cave in with snow.  so they can withstand alot! 

It was less than 1/2 of what we was quoted from a barn builder no matter if we went with wood or red iron.  Big price difference! and we are trying to do everything by cash. not easy lol

Well, that makes sense.  Barns of any kind, like houses, are just darn expensive.
