Location: Southeast, Texas | Brought home a new filly. Week one was just settling in, but now that we have saddled and started working with her we have noted she is horribly off balance in her hind end. She was not noticeably this way when we got her home. Immediately.. I panic and think neurological issues. I've had one EPM case and he did not respond to treatment at all. So, I guess my question is.. if she comes back positive for EPM, what is the likelihood of full recovery.. from others experience. Because mine is a big Zero! |

Location: Dubach, LA | Pretty good, I suspect. You probably will need to treat for it yearly. I have a gelding that has shown symptoms both times he returned from the trainers. Others I've treated once and they never show symptoms again. |

Location: Texas | I see that you are in Texas and I was told by a vet that every horse in Texas would probably test positive for EPM so I would not bother testing. I would start on a good treatment ASAP. |

Location: Southeast, Texas | She's headed to the vet on Monday. Soonest they could get her in with all the mess going on. I currently her on Bute as an anti inflammatory. Adding immune booster as well. I'm just incredibly discouraged. Can anyone recommend a treatment other than marquis? I know several have used compound formulas, but I'm unaware where you can get these. The one horse I have treated got multiple rounds of marquis and still showed no improvement. |

Location: Texas | Check our Diclazuril. Costs about $260 for a 20 day treatment but we have been happy with results on a couple of horses. |

Don't listen to anything that Readytorodeo has to say.
2. Have your vet send a perscription to Weatherford Compounding Pharm for their Decoquinate/levamisole compound. That seems to be working very well 3. start supplementing Vit. E right now. 4. Find a new vet, any vet that puts you off for several days for something as potentially serious as EPM doesn't need to be used. Good luck and most seem to rebound fine if treated agressivly and early

1DSoon is right!! And start that Vit. E now, I have heard how it works wonders for a horse with EPM if thats what is happening with your horse. Of course the horse will need to be treated for EPM but vit e is really helpful, hope you can get your horse in sooner to the Vet.. Hope everything works out for your horse, keep us updated if you can.. |
