Hey! I am wanting to cross a barrel stud on my mare! She has lots of turn, heart, and stride! I really want to find a stud that has lots of GO and try! I need opinons on what stallions might work best with her! Here is my mare : )
Like many others have said, it really depends on her breeding. If she is cow bred, you are wanting to look at a cow bred stallion.
I've had luck with A Regal Choice, but he is not available for breeding in the U.S. nor have I heard a lot about his barrel racing progeny.
I've had really good luck with anything from Corona Cartel. I have a grandson and have worked with 2 others. They have a very friendly temperament but can be quite energetic at times. My favorite Corona Cartel stallions would probably be Ivory James and Prime Talent. Lisa Lockhart rides Rosas Cantina CC (daughter of Corona Cartel) and Prime Diamond (Grandson of Corona Cartel).
Ofc, Racebred doesn't always mean they are bred for speed...
Here is the mares pedigree... https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/militant+i+candy Other things I would like to improve on her would be more size in the hip and shoulder and a stallion with a shorter back. Also something with a mellow attitude that wants to work! I can pay up to $2000 for stallion fees. Color is nothing to me neither is the sex of the foal. I would be breeding to keep then hopefully be my next rodeo horse.
