I have an almost 12-year-old rescue dog who I've had for almost his whole life. He tore both ACL's a year apart, nearly 5 years ago. Late this summer, he sprained one of his back knees. Did a lot of rest, and he started to take a turn down hill about two months ago. He limps here and there on that one back  right leg. Did some x-rays recently and he has degenerative joint disease. I have put rugs down everywhere in my house. If I don't, he slips and falls. This summer he was doing really well. Before he sprained his knee. We were swimming all the time, going for a 5 mile walks. And he seemed to take a turn downhill really really fast. I guess I'm surprised. He gets summit shots and adequan shots as well both once a week. He is on 5 mg of prednisone twice a day. I use springtime inc Advanced hip and joint supplements for him. I just bought him CBD oil that we started last night. I want him around for many many more years, I'm going to talk to my vet about cold laser therapy. He has multiple Tempur-pedic dog beds in the house. He eats really well, Still wants to play with his toys, barks at the neighbors, is happy. But I feel like he is stressed out about his condition. Does anyone have any other therapy ideas that will help him?

My 15 year old Jack russel is in the same shoes.. SHe falls all the time now. SHe was hit by a car about 10 years ago and I think its catching up. I finally just started her on Previcox on her bad days. I may need to just do it every day at this point.

When you give her previcox on her bad days, do you see a noticeable difference in her?

Look into giving him Movex.  It’s helping a lot of dogs and horses with arthritis

I looked into it, it's 50mg of chrondrotin, summit is 80mg. Is there any other difference?

Since you just started using CBD oil, I'll suggest you watch and see it effectiveness in few days before taking further action. I heard people say CBD oil really treats arthritis in dog well

I read this on their website because I am looking into it to.  The equine dosage is 125 mg and I believe Summit is 200 mg.  I did a search and couldn't find anything on here about it.

Not all injectables are created equal. With variations in quality and efficacy, MOVEX is pharmaceutical grade meaning our 125 mg dose is more easily absorbed than a lesser product with a higher dosage.

Where do you get the Movex?

Movex has its own website and right now they have some deals going on.  Click on the link below.  The trial dose is at least inexpensive enough to give it a shot.  Also go to their facebook page.

I know of some people taking the Canine dose of Summitt.  They claim it works for their arthritis.

You need to ask your vet before starting the previcox because your dog is on steroids. I know my vet was hesitant to give my dog steroids when she was on daily previcox.

Isn't it amazing our attachment to our furry friends.  I took my Cocker Spaniel to the vet this morning.  Twice I've had a large tumor removed from the lower hind leg part of his hip, very expensive surgery, the last time only four months ago.  Now it's grown back with a vengeance and is described as aggressive cancer.  I have no choice but to put him down and can't stand the thought of it.

Hello! I can tell you truly take excellent care of him. Love that picture too! Is he on anything else for the pain? I'm not a huge pred fan. To me, it's more of a "quick fix" but I don't like using it for long term. I see too many negative side effects. I would ask about Previcox or even gabapentin and/or tramadol. For him having two ACL sx's done I believe the laser would help tremendously. It would make him more comfortable and get that inflammation down too. Have you ever thought of acupuncture?

10mg a day of prednisone, metronidazole twice a day. Summit and adequan shots each once a week. Just started CBD oil last week. Don't see any results on cbd yet. And he gets super high doses of an advanced hip and joint supplement daily. We start our first laser treatment tonight. Vet wants to try one this week and one next week and see if there are any results. There is a local vet that offers acupuncture I'm going to look into.

Cetyl M joint supplement. I had a dog with a severe autoimmune disease that attacked his joints. He could barely move. Cetyl M saved him. He was actually able to get around after starting it. It was crazy the results I had.

Go to the Cetyl M site and watch the video of the dog. I was so impressed I got it for my horse. I do know the cream is AMAZING on people. Gotta help a dog too

I am a firm believer in quality CBD, broad spectrum, (no THC) although THC can also be beneficial sometimes!  I am Operations Manager for Can-Tek Labs in Oklahoma Cit and would be more than happy to send you a bottle of our Sat-A-Vet tincture for your dog on me!  It has done wonders for old dogs with cateracts, arthritis, etc.

Tonight was my dog's second round of laser treatment. I feel like I noticed a slight difference after the first treatment. As of right now, I'm going to stick to a once a week laser treatment for him. I also started the first dose of MoveX tonight. I was doing summit and didn't notice a difference. Figured I'd give it a shot. Also going to stick with adequan once a week too.
