I know he has passed, was wondering what those who have any of his colts think of them?  Temperament, trainability, rate of maturity, etc.  Thanks in advance!

I just sent one home today. They've been nice looking and very good minded. I've had three so far.

I have a mare by him.  She is incredibily smart really too smart.  However, she is very fracious minded and very slow to mature.  She gets bored easily and does best when you are showing her new things and making her mind work.  I have really high hopes for her as she is incredibily talented, but it has been a very slow process.  *Edited to add, that she is very trainable in that when you show her how to do something once or twice she has it down.

He bred very few mares, probably less than 20

per year.

There have been some run in futurities but really haven't done anything. I TRIED  to breed several mares to him and kept getting shipments that had NO semen in them.  I mean like they sent extender. That happened to another guy also. A girl that I know sent her mare to the vet to breed. The mare was checked in foal and when she got her home, the mare wasn't bred.  That is probably why there are few foals by him. I did get one mare bred after paying for repeated shipments. Stallion owner and vet were not very user friendly. Sold that colt.

Thank you, that makes sense also.   I agree stallion owner is not user-friendly, I tried to advertise my mare for sale on the FTF page, even called him directly to request permission and he pretty much blew me off and wouldn't post her.  Perhaps he is still grieving....

I have only been around a few yearlings and one 4/5yr old, she is HOT HOT HOT!! I don't know if it is the mare she is out of or what.....she can definately run the pattern but she isn't something I would want to ride just because of how hot she is.

Mine was a yearling when I sold him but he was far from hot. Really smart and quite a character.
