Nancy called Trump's $1200 saving to citizens "crumbs". Nancy called this $600 Covid check "significant". Nancy can shove those $600 checks up her ass, as far as I'm concerned. |

Location: Kansas | There's tons of waste in this stimulus bill including millions to foreign countries and another $24 million to the Kennedy Art Center. You just wouldn't believe the pork projects including financing an end to mis-using the Smokey the Bear slogan (gasp) and a gender research program worth $10 million to Pakistan. Once again, the bill is calling for payments to illegal migrants actually more than to US citizens. Trump is trying to cut out the waste and change the payout to American citizens to $2000 per person.

I don't care what it was attached to, and neither does anyone else. In fact if anything, the fact that these were passed together is even worse, because it looks like they were hiding something. The stimulous checks are paltry, and it aggravates the sh!t out of people to see the foreign aid attached to the budget bill. If they are in the mood to give billions in foreign aid for Middle East border security aid and gender dysphoria studies in Pakistan while small businesses are forced to go under, through no fault of their own, has people up in arms. Merging these two bills makes the insult even worse. Nobody cares about a civics lesson right now. |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | Norma is right, in a sense. The Republicans aren't that much more fiscally conservative than Democrats. In some ways they are worse, because at least Democrats don't walk around claiming they are "fiscally conservative". The reason for fiscal conservatism being close to extinction is obvious to me. Politicians have figured out that the only way they can keep their position at the trough is through this kind of crap. It has been said, hundreds of years ago, actually, that a democracy is always temporary in nature. It cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy. That's what's happening right now. That's why we need term limits. |

Term Limit mandates That's a pandora's box I'm not sure you really want to open. What needs to happen is people need to use the ballot box for what it was intended for. Everyone wants all elected officials voted out, except for the ones they vote for. |

| They need to attach a name to the person that throws the pork in the bills. Easier to recognize who to vote out if we had a name of who wants to use our money for Pakistan while forced out of work Americans get 600.00 (sneak peek at Socialism). That will be voted in about the same time term limits are set.
Solution: We should give Americans all the money then set up a Go Fund Me for those that would like to give their money to Pakistan. eta: sorry vjls, I see you mentioned same thing above

Problem is, it’s hard. We’re not nice, and we will absolutely, 110% make fun of you when you screw up. It’s how all of us knuckledraggers work. It’s been that way for generations, and it won’t stop with your candy ass either.
Guess what? I’m about to blow your mind. You ready? None of them got a stimulus check. Hang on.....Wait for it!.....THEY. ALL. MAKE. TOO. MUCH. MONEY.
So, quit the ****. You are not going to “Lose everything”, without this bill. It just gives you a few more weeks of that tit in your mouth.
If the United States saw what the United States was doing in the United States, the United States would invade the United States to liberate the United States from the tyranny of the United States."
The last sentence is especially true, in my opinion.
I can identify with this guy. Finding someone to do simple tasks on our house or barn is a chore in itself. The wind recently blew a heavy sliding end door off our barn. It was pretty important to find someone quickly as the wind blows through the alleyway like a hurricane if the doors aren't closed. Most we called were only interested in new construction or "gee it's a holiday, maybe later." We finally got someone to Mickey Mouse it on but they forgot the door belongs on a track (door hangs three inches above it now). It's the same with everything. |

Norma is right, in a sense.
We are a Republic rather than a pure democracy (thank goodness!). I completely agree we need term limits for the House and Senate. Totally. Career politicians are horribile. They are disconnected from the real world. |

Location: Da Booshes | I don't get all the crying and whining about it taking so long to get stimulus checks out either. If that much money is going to magically save your life then you've got bigger problems. First of all it's your tax money you paid in but the government is so kind that they won't make you pay taxes on the check that came from your taxes. People don't want to work. We have work, come clean stalls. Nope too hard, don't want to work weekends. Well then you're not that broke. My neighbors are custom farmers, they are constantly looking for drivers during harvest. They will teach you to drive and help you get your CDL to drive truck. Working for them one could easily gross $16K in a few months. Even if you walk away at the end of the season you gained a skill to use. Nope, the hours are long and it can be 6-7 days a week. I have friends that own dairies, need feed truck truck drivers. Pays $120/ for an 8 hour day, no physical labor. Sit in a heated and air conditioned truck. Not sure why this job sucks? I guess it's just easier to sit on the couch and ***** about how the rich isn't getting taxed enough and capitalism sucks. |

It doesn't seem to matter. In our constitutional republic, a politician can't survive without promising goodies. Freebies for illegals, and granting them all citizenship is a lucrative political move, for example. Free college is another example. Guaranteed incomes is another. Very few politicians are fiscally conservative. Republicans are actually worse in some respects. They lie when they proclaim they are fiscal conservatives, only to line up at the trough just like Democrats. |

Term Limit mandates
That's a pandora's box I'm not sure you really want to open.
What needs to happen is people need to use the ballot box for what it was intended for. Everyone wants all elected officials voted out, except for the ones they vote for.
Term limits 100% NEED to be a thing! The highest office of the country has 2. That should be the maximum for all offices. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a whole new plethora of candidates to choose from at least every 8 years? Wouldn't it be wonderful to not have some of the richest people (career politicians seem to get wealthy fast...) in america NOT be the richest, so it would make them care a little bit more about what they are creating/signing/etc? 1/2 of the reason, maybe more like 90%, that people don't go into politics is that it's incredibly expensive to run for an office. Why? It shouldn't be that way. It shouldn't take millions to run. What's the point if rich old Crab Pelosi is going to win anyways because she has millions and has been sitting there for 30 some odd years? |

I don't have the energy to type it all out and explain it. I'll say this and you can read up on it. There is no way to effectively limit or muzzle the actions of a Constitutional Convention. The Convention could make its own rules and set its own agenda. Congress might try to limit the Convention to one amendment or one issue, but there is no way to assure that the Convention would obey. After a Convention is convened, it will be too late to stop the Convention if we don’t like its agenda. ^^^^that's^^^^ the pandora's box I gave you the solution to career politicians. It's already in the constitiuiojn |

I see what you are saying. That's very true, if a convention of the states was used to pass a term limits constitutional convention. Everything in the existing constitution could potentially be in play, from the EC, to free speech, to the second amendment. The other way would be via the amendment process that doesn't require an article V convention of the states. Either way, it's a very steep climb, by design. I would think the only way to realistically and safely get it done would be with an overwhelming grass roots movement of some sort...one that would crecendo to the point where it would demand congress take it up. Daunting prospect. But yes, you are definitely right about Pandora's box. |
