Would you look at a colt that was by

THIS STUD x THAT MARE on the top side

BIGTIME STUD x THAT MARE on the bottom

So Half siblings out of the same mare just by different studs?

Are you interested in breeding, or just a barrel horse?  If it's just a horse to run, it wouldn't bother me a bit.  If you're buying for breeding purposes, is it proven?  If it is it proven, again it wouldn't bother me a bit.  I mean lets face it breeding is a crapshoot anyway.

THIS STUD and BIGTIME STUD are Half Siblings.

Wouldn't bug me in the least if I liked the horse.

You are acually not that far off. The purpose of line breeding is to isolate desirable traits.  One of the requirements of line breeding is to Cull and cull hard if those traits dont consolidate or if undesireable traits show up.  Line breeding done on purpose can be very effective.  Line breeding done by someone unwilling or unable to cull is just inbreeding and it will always end poorly.

The proof is in the history of breeding. The King Ranch is said to have had colts with parrot mouths due to line. Hence, the culling techniques required to better the breed.

This pedigree is similar to what you are talking about.  This horse is one of the nicest rope horses I've ever seen.  She has it all.  Pedigree wouldn't scare me a bit.

One of the best roping/goat tying geldings that we have ever owned was "line" bred. If I liked the horse, I would not hesitate a bit in buying another one.

Lets say interested in running barrels and hoping for a gelding

And lets say THAT MARE has a good history of throwing proven winners

And I totally agree on the crap shoot

Ok... Lets say those stallions are both 5 panel negative and it was done because THAT MARE has thrown winners. so it would double THAT mare, who is confirmationally correct and the stallion too.

I have a couple that are double bred on 2 different lines and both super nice, one is a rope horse and one started on the heel side but he WANTS to be a barrel horse

That stuff when done right, In my opinion is magic... and If I like the horse and like the lines, TAKE MY MONEY

The dam of this horse is a full sister to playgun and the sire would be a half brother to playgun.  So the quality is there also.

Evaluate the individual.  As long as its good, it will probably be real good.
