It's time to go truck shopping, but really wondering what everyone is using to pull your "modest" living quarters (3-4 horse, 10ft short wall, no pop outs).  Is a short bed an option?  3/4 ton or 1 ton?  Dually?  Any add-ons you must have?

I have a 4 hours with a weekender (bed, shower, toilet, no cooking) length about 23 ft plus gooseneck that I pull with a 2012 Ford F250 diesel and it handles it great. I don't feel like I need more truck.

Its all about weight!! Take a look at the weight plate on the trailer and make sure the truck your pulling it with is rated for it. Its always better to have more truck than you need. I suggest Dually.

What Flitastic said about weight is accurate, but, I would expand on the weight issue. The heavier (weight) the trailer, the more stopping power required...........................

Also, a dually ie dual rear wheel pickup provides far more stability than does a single rear wheel.

I speak from experience with these things. Being pushed through a traffic intersection by a 32' GN Cattle Trailer cause the trailer brakes malfunctioned gives One plenty of experience to draw from!

I have a 3H with 8' short wall and tow it with a 2005 Chevy dually, 8.1 gas engine. I have no issues pulling or stopping.
