I should probably just wait and look at saddles at the Josey Clinic to see if they can fit him properly.  But.. my dear husband has been sneaking behind my back and talking to a friend of mine about rustling up a saddle for me... I just found this out because he had to tell me and wanted to know if this particular saddle would work. It's a Lynn Mckenzie (JJ) She found one someone is wanting to sell that still has tags on it. It's a 15 (which is what I want for me) and it's a "Wide" I have no idea on those saddles or if it would fit ... I could get it shipped here in time if I bought it to go but not enough time to actually go try it before I buy.  Part of me wants to wait, the other part of me wants a daggum saddle to go to the clinic in lol!!  Logical side says wait and buy one you'll know will fit for sure ... duh!!! The not so Logical side says you had better jump on this saddle quickly so you won't have to use your roping saddle in the barrel clinic.... the Josey saddles are Circle Y and I don't know much about those either.... they are priced similar to the JJ.. (my husband thinks the Circle Y is overpriced) I am leaning towards just waiting... I can get a great deal on a JJ when I get back and she said I could bring my horse to see which tree would suit him best and place a custom order which won't be ready till late May... I had mapped out a few races at the end of March and mid April that I wanted to attend... so I'm being a bit hasty I think... if I'm going to spend the money, I want it to be we'll worth it.. this will be the most expensive saddle I've ever purchased.  I really like the looks of the JJ  a lot more than the Josey and I do like the foam bottom with a flex tree they offer too. (I think I just answered my question) 

Circle Y was a really good brand 20 years ago, I loved my Martha Josey back then, they were a really well made saddle, but now adays since Circle Y has changed owner ship more then a few times the quality of the saddles have gone down hill, the craftmanship is not there.. The older Martha Joseys are good, but not the newer ones. I would pass on a Circle Y and maybe look into the Double J if you can get a used one at a good cost, I love my Double J's and I have a Caldwell that I really love and just bought a used Meleta brown Freedon saddle that I wanted to try, love that its got some rock to it so going to see how it sits my big boy..I was bored during the winter storm and saw that saddle for sell on here so I thought what the heck..If you can take your boy to Yoakum to Double J and have him fitted that would be a better deal. 

Your Husband is right Circle Y is way over priced. I bought my double J's off a lady thats a dealer for these saddles and her prices could not be beat, If I can find her website I would be more then glad to give it to you. 

 JJ Lynn Mckenzies are amazing. I say go for it !!! 

Good information to know.. thank you! I kinda felt the Circle Y was on the pricey side, had no idea it had been sold a few times... that's too bad. I've heard the same about Martin's... my husband has a really nice Martin roping saddle but the tree broke a while back.. he refuses to let it go ... his quest to get it fixed and fixed right by someone really crafted is ongoing... he's talked to several makers but he hasn't decided on one yet.. it was an original Martin... that saddle fit every single horse we put it on over the years.. I remember the day the tree broke.. I was roping on it and I felt it ... he put that saddle thru a lot over several years of use.. sounds like JJ is the way to go for me.
